Desgeegas were the funky looking Sidehopper-clones that populate Norfair.
In later games, they became psychotic head-twitching beasts that hop much faster than Sidehoppers. And I'm already quaking in my boots. Spore Spawn itself is slightly annoying, since at the moment I have only 7 Missiles. |

OK, I realize that I should probably post some techniques that are required to beat the game. They're in spoiler tags, in case you don't want to know about them.
Technique 1: Wall Jump Description: Jump between 2 different walls, or 1 (more difficult). Wall-jump boots required. Spin-jump against a "clingable" wall, press the opposite direction, then the jump button. It's much easier once you realize that you have to press jump AFTER you press away, and that you actually have a decently large window of opportunity. Technique 2: MAM (Mid-air Morph) Description: Turn into a morph ball in the air, while keeping your upward momentum. Obviously, morph ball is needed. Press the jump button, then while keeping it held down, quickly tap/press down twice. Not really very hard once you get some practice, except of course for really small jumps. Technique 3: Shinespark Description: Keep your speed dash for a few seconds without actually running. Speed boots required. While speed dashing, press the down button to crouch. While in this state, jumps must be spin jumps. Otherwise, you will do a speed jump. If no directional buttons are held, Samus will do a speed dash straight up. If R or L is held, Samus will speed dash diagnally(sp) up. If the direction Samus is facing is pressed at the same time as the jump button, Samus will do a speed dash in that direction. Heath is drained by all 3 of these jumps. If jumping left or right into a slope with the dash button and the "foward" directional button are held down, Samus will start to speed dash again. If the down button is pressed while Samus is speed dashing again, she will do another shinespark, with the timer reset, effectively recharging it. It can be tricky, simply because of the speed you move at. That last one's kind of a doozy, but isn't required until much later. The other two are required near the beginning, but aren't all THAT difficult. Also note that all 3 existed in the original Super Metroid, but weren't required for anything. Edit: I should probably post this, but it's helpful to dash. It makes you go faster and jump farther. ![]() Last edited by Magish; 11-16-2006 at 11:12 AM. |

This game can perish in a heat related incident. I cant get out of the damned space station! Then again Ive NEVER been able to beat Super Metroid normally, which is odd since Ive beaten the original NES metroid and the 2 GBA ones to a pulp!

Hint: When fighting Ridley in the beginning, stay next to the door. The key to the space station is to hold down the dash button. With the 'hits' you take, you should be able to get there with about 5 seconds to spare.
Hint: Save at your ship immediately upon landing. The next savepoint isn't too hard to get to for the more experienced Metroid players, but it does take a bit to get to (It's in the first elevator shaft). Hint: Blind jumps are your enemy here. This game punishes you for not being careful. The shinespark trick shouldn't bee too hard to handle. While it's not fully used like that in Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion has a couple of puzzles to get items that you need to use the chained shinespark.

We need the actual Super Metroid ROM for this to work, huh? I've downloaded everything, including an emulator, but I don't actually have Super Metroid, or a ROM for it.
I don't want any links to a ROM, as thievery is not my name, but I'd like to know if I need the original game ROM to play this. If so, I give up. If not, what am I doing wrong? |

Please note, this patched ROM will not work well in ZSNES versions 1.4+. The graphics after the Space Station will be garbled and imossible to tell what is what. Versions of ZSNES earlier than 1.4 work fine if you must use ZSNES (like me).
