Shin Megami Nocturne. Hard mode. Dante, first encounter.
His crit rate was OBSCENE. Good heavens. You can't immune physicals by that fight, but you can halve them. Dante's attacks still can critical cheese you. It's impressive how sadistic that design can be. Also randoms in the Amala Deep Dungeon can go die horribly. Arses.

Crimsonland. Hardcore quest mode. Mission 5-1. The Beating.
Actually, scratch that. Like 1/2 of the entire difficulty. There's like 500 enemies coming after you FROM THE VERY START of the level, and they can kill you in like 5 hits. And when you've got literally 200+ of them out for your blood at the same time, those 5 hits aren't worth anything. Not to mention the fact that on this level, the waves of enemies are spawned at ceratin times, so you can't just keep on running away and kiting them - you'll end up running into the other wave and crushed in between 2 living walls of DEATH. Also, even if you're the 1337est player alive, the sheer difficulty means that if no good weapons or life-saving powerups spawn, you're screwed. Heck, you're practically screwed even if some good stuff DOES end up dropping. Yeah, it's taken me like an hour+ for most of the other levels, at like 30s per try, and almost certainly over 2 so far on level 5-1 (still not done). YEARGHBLBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, FD difficulty, trying to defeat Freya w/out damage... I tried this for 3 days, then I had to drink an obscene amount of alcohol to de-traumatise myself. Stupid Etherstrike:gonk:

Dawn of War: Playing an 6-play skermish with all races involved, I got a little too focused on one side of the map...completely missed a bunch of Orks that made it though, destroyed my base.

Mine are more just technical things than actual parts in the games.
It seems to be there's an edict out there to delete any game data I have. Chrono Trigger - Lent it to a friend, the cartridge freaked out and deleated all of the data, including all of my games and the new game + data. Star Ocean: 'Til The End of Time - Brought it over to a different friend's house to start a new game with her. I go upstairs to go to the bathroom. I come back, and the next time we save I notice that my OTHER game file (20+ hours) was... different. It got saved over with a game that was 2 hours into the game. Final Fantasy 12 - My roommate was playing it, I hear someone save and an "...uh oh...". Surely enough, my game data at the very end of the game (70-80+ hours), with a ton of time devoted into hunts, etc, was saved over. You would think I would stop letting people play my games... Doesn't matter too much. *cries on the inside* My first copy of FF7 was for the computer and at the time... my computer was... crappy. It could JUST BARELY handle the game, but it made it go SOO SLOW. Seriously, It would take me a few HOURS inbetween saves in that game. Anyway, I somehow managed to make it to the scene where the Weapons are awakened. I will never forget this scene. The LONGEST scene in the game (as I remember it). As soon as the Emerald Weapon gripped the side of the snow covered mountain, my game froze. Not a big deal, right? I tried again... and again... and again. Froze every time. And that cutscene before hand was PAINFULLY long and I had to sit through it every time. It never worked, so I got the PS version and started over.

I lent my copy of Wild Arms to a friend, and his house was broken into and that was one of the things that was stolen. I once bought a SNES game from Funcoland, only to get home, and discover that past the companies that made it, there was only blackness. And I found this out about two months after I had bought the game.

Uhh...I beat Dullahan the first time I played him...the pirate ghost guy, right? Then again I almost never summoned that whole game. I was unaware you COULD summon until about 3/4 of the way through it. YEARGHBLBLE!!!
Anyway, I played through Final Fantasy IX, having a fine time, bothering to learn a few abilities, waltzing through dungeon after dungeon, handed Kuja his buttocks, and was relaxing in expectation of the ending...then Necron comes out of nowhere and renders all my time moot. Utterly moot. YEARGHBLBLE!!! I quit, and months later started the game over, and did all the extra stuff, learning abilities and such off of hidden items off the chocobo optional quests, etc., and the bastard was STILL fairly difficult. I don't think I've said YEARGHBLBLE!!! more often than when playing GTA games' missions, though. Supply Lines? Why not just anally rape me, Rockstar? |
