As she crashed through the underbrush, branches cutting at her face, Aieris quickly decided it would be a good idea to slow down to avoid further injury to her face. So, a few meters from the beaten path the small group had been following, she reined her horse in tersely, then dismounted and began stroking the stupid animal in an attempt to calm it. The screams of pain that came from the horses of her two companions behind her did not help, and the horses eyes darted from side to side, trying to find whatever was threatening it.
As she finally calmed the animal, muttering loud curses about the stupidity of bloody horses, she heard Graeme yell out, as if to alert the whole world, "Lady elf! We must make haste to the temple! Gods know we might already be too late!", followed quickly by the sounds of a horse quickly heeled to a gallop, heading towards the temple. "It's alright for them to charge in, sword raised, trumpet blaring, bloody brainless knights, " she muttered as she mounted the still frightened animal and set off slowly through the woods towards the temple, angling slightly away from the path so she would not come out where the other two did, "But I"d rather try and stay alive for a few more bloody minutes, thank you very bloody much." It wasn't long before she started hearing the roaring explosions of spellfire, and it was then that she decided that a target on horseback is much more visible than one on foot. Tying her horse's reins to a tree, she unlimbered her bow, knocked an arrow, and proceeded on foot towards the temple once more. Whatever happened, she would stay alive. |
