She probably did it with the wonder chef in an attempt to learn the mysteries of cooking.

It's also a throwback to Tales of Phantasia, wherein the half elf of that game, Arche* runs way half-way before meeting the Unicorn, and is similarly nervous and blushing when asked why she left.

It's simply one of those moments that ties this game with it's predecessor.

Raine is Genis' older sister and Iselia's schoolteacher. Raine is a cool, pragmatic thinker: for much of the first half of the game, she is the only character who thinks about the long-term consequences of the party's actions. She is overly fascinated with ruins of any kind. She raised Genis from childhood all by herself, and doesn't hesitate to resort to physical violence to teach Lloyd or Genis a lesson. Though she and Genis both claim to be elves, it is revealed later that they are in fact half-elves, and that they came from the parallel world of Tethe'alla. They were sent to Sylvarant by their parents to escape Tethe'alla's highly discriminatory laws and to keep the child prodigy Raine from being manipulated by the Imperial Research Academy. While on the run from the Academy, Raine fell off of a boat and nearly drowned, leading to a severe case of hydrophobia. Eventually, Virginia, Raine and Genis' mother, sent them both through the Otherworldly Gate so that they could escape. The reason Raine and Genis were able to live in Iselia was because Raine told the villagers they were elves; she had Genis hide his true nature as well. Raine is the complete opposite of Genis in cooking, and tends to make rather repulsive food. She takes comments about her cooking straight to heart and usually loses her temper. Raine is a classic staff-wielding healer, and is also gifted with light-element offensive spells and stat augmentations. Despite this role, she is far from the stereotypical RPG healer in terms of personality.

Also, I think symphonia is the prequel to phantasia... which is just plain awesome. I KNEW he'd name that tree Yggdrasil. And then I'll bet collette ran into it and doomed all the world.

Also, 23 years old, huh? sounds cool. Lets be honest, didn't anybody guess that they were half-elves before the scene in Sybak? Cause I pretty much knew the moment that genis cried to get away from the desian base.

They do hint in the game that Raine has a crush on Lloyd. She says it in her Flainor conversation.

For the record, even before Kratos introduced himself, I knew he was Lloyd's real father. I didn't even know he had a foster father at the time!

Also, Kratos is hot. Even if he's voiced by Liquid Snake.

I love Raine. I always leave her and genis in my party so I always have that BRUTAL prism stars attack at my disposal.

Prism Stars? WTF...I REALLY need to explore my party options more thoroughly when I go through my second playthrough on the game. Which won't be till I either A) borrow it from one of my friends again or B) Buy it myself.

On who she slept with, it's obvious. Lloyd's adopted dwarven dad, in an attempt to make a human/elf/dwarf hybrid.... FOR SCIENCE!!!


Now I want to replay it again.

...omg... you could be right... of course she also sprinkled them both with spices before and during, just to see if the potential offspring could be induced to have a spicy smell and/or taste.

Also, Prism Stars came from a unison attack. Ray would have to use ray, or whatever the strike type equivalent is (if for some odd reason you decided to make raine strike type), and genis would have to use a 3rd level water or wind spell, then, after the unison attack is over, genis and raine use prism stars, launching 30 stars at the enemy, each one doing between 150 and 300 (usually) light damage. In other words, its a quick +30 to just about any combo you can get. Or was it only 25 stars...
The point it, it is an INSANE attack, that totally fails on Yggdrasil.
