I think she has stocked up enough FMA fangirl points to never watch it again and still maintain her fangirl status

On the subject of DN, as someone who read the manga before watching the anime and who has also seen all the episodes, the manga is utterly superior to the anime. That said, the anime is still quite watchable, both subbed and dubbed. There is, however, one part of the anime that I didn't like that much. The very end differs somewhat from the manga. Nothing really major, just disappointing and needless.
If you want to know what I mean: Concerning the manga ending: In the manga, after getting shot, Light asks Ryuk to write down the names of everyone there. So Ryuk writes, gets Light's hopes up, and after giving a short speech to Light, shows that he wrote down only Light's name. Light dies in terror, and the next (final) chapter covers the epilogue. Concerning the anime ending: In the anime, Light runs his ass off after he gets shot. Ryuk's speech is heard, while Light runs, as Ryuk writes his name in the note. Light dies in a stairwell, well away from anyone and that's it. Totally gutted the awesomeness of that scene. There was a special that aired some time after that, but I haven't seen it. It might have cleared up (let's hope so), but I doubt it. |

You people are crazy!
Watch the live-action movies instead! Because L wins! Haha! Suck on THAT Light! Also, L eats lots of really funny looking concoctions in those live-action movies, and I'm suprised that the actor didn't quit due to stomach-death. I mean, he even agreed to do a prequel spin-off movie with them. How much punishment can a single stomache take?! In the anime, I thought it was mostly executed extremely well, except the scene just prior to when Rem kills L. I mean, c'mon, we didn't need a Yaoi Jesus impression from L, and Light is not a prostitute (I think). Aside from that, I thought the anime rocked. Plus, the english VAs aren't even terrible like most other shows. I mean, they're close to actually resembling good, and that's something I won't say about any other English Dubs other than Hellsing, Trigun and FMA.

I can't stand Light's VA, he's kinda pretty boyish.

I know exactly what you mean by that comment about not using the superweapon, Aerozord, I read the manga and kept going, "Okay, now, pull out your gun, Light, and at least attempt to fight your way out. No, no. A gun. A GUN, LIGHT, YOU STUPID--" Oh, and I know English isn't his first language but it seems like if Light had only had some simple skill in CURSIVE he could've finished Near's name in blood no matter how fast whats his face figured out to shoot at him.
Seriously, Mello used guns and bombs and crap in an attempt to meet his ends, I'd hate to see such tools in the hands of someone as smart as Light. Then again I guess Light's arrogance in deciding he didn't need such methods was the whole point, but still. It's also annoying that everyone's machinations come down to outside influences involving ridiculous Xanatos Roulettes. Not only Rem killing L, because it still depended on such a big step on the part of Rem even with Light's machinations, but then Near succeeds at stopping Light not because of a mistake on Light's part specifically but because of a mistake by Mikami. And then Mikami doesn't try and help Light there at the end by at least attempting to struggle, which made no sense either. Too much chance in some of the major events when such care was taken to avoid plot holes with some of the smaller schemes, is what I'm saying. The Shinigami at least should've been kept out of active participation in any of them, anyway. Anyway, my friend who is very critical of anime and manga and has seen dozens of the things praised the Death Note anime for following along with the manga very very closely, which is something that another one that I like, FMA, failed to do so (to its detriment, as the manga is better, at this point, anyway).
