Scotland ahoy

It appears my supervisor may be moving to Scotland next year and maybe can get me a scholarship to work on my thesis their, up in Aberdeen specifically.
So anyone who has lived in Scotland or been to it, what's it like as a place to be? I've been told it's similar to NZ in terms of demographics and things, and it's a bit colder but that's about it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Also if anyone knows the cheap flatting situation up in Aberdeen that would be double plus awesome.

Having worked out that this would locate you geographically somewhat father away from me I wholeheartedly recommend this decision.

...It's nothing personal against you mind, I just prefer for all NPFers to be as far away as humanly possible. If I could I'd ship you all to Antarctica, or the moon.

I know! I live in constant terror of discovery.

I've taken to varying my route to work at random, and making purchases with cash to avoid leaving a credit trail.

Also I really wish one of the RaiROer's had come up with "NPFools" a year ago, as a retort to "ROtards".

Wouldn't it be more efficient to ship yourself to one of those locations instead? :p

Edit: On-topic, will you be anywhere near Paisley? I've got some legendary family history up there.

Went on a holiday there once if that counts. Seemed like a very nice place. I likes me some scotch pancakes and scotch eggs and scotch whisky so I think it must be pretty good up there. They also invented the deep fried mars bar.

Also, on topic, I've heard it's a nice place from people who've been there. I've also heard that there are dwarves in kilts, riding bears, though, so I would take a machine gun. No, seriously, a friend of mine told me that. I think he was high, or something.

Seriously though, up near Aberdeen is really beautiful, just you'll have to put up with constant year round rain, cold, wind, snow, sleet and just about any other crappy weather condition you could name. Apart from that Scotland's not so bad, I've lived here in Edinburgh most of my life and I have to say it's a nice town to live in mostly.

We're not all ginger, whiskey drinking, haggis eating, kilt wearers either, honest!

If you wanna know anything more about Scotland, feel free to ask, there's a good chance I'll know the answer!
