Don't these monsters leave a poisonous gas after being defeated?

Either way I can only see this go downhill for our heroes.

I've gotta say, in these recent comics, anytime someone gets mortally wounded, it's a little scary for me. We're at the point near the end where anything can go. Brian has killed off key figures near the end before...

I don't remember who said that in the end of 8BT, the Light Warriors would end up killing each others, but I think we may have an oracle amongst us...

Red Mage's only choice is to reproduce to carry on his legacy. And since Fighter happens to be right there...

Theories:
- The real Red Mage is somehow *inside* the monster Red Mage, through some ridiculous illogic that Red Mage cooks up on the spot. All fighter did was free him.
- White Mage appears and cleans things up.
- Red Mage respawns at his home point.
- Red Mage casts Toad on himself twice to revert to normal form before Fighter can finish killing him.
- Red Mage uses the monster's Divide skill, so now we have TWO monster Red Mages. And then four. And then eight. Fighter can't kill them all faster then they can spawn.

He certainly won't die here, since it's just a random battle, and Chaos hasn't even shown up yet. He has to be around to provide insightful* commentary on the final battle, and that's surprisingly hard to do when you're dead.

(*May consist entirely of references to one-winged time-compressed bizarro towers of enemies named Tools and Magic, or possibly RM trying to imitate a singing choir)
