I'm getting ok-kinda-somewhat far into the game, and I am so tempted to ditch my current character in favor of running someone with higher INT from the get go. Put it at 9 and make a quick trip to the Rivet City Science Labs. Love agility, just because "FUCK YEAH SNEAKING!" Definitely should have bought instead of renting.

If I did I'd just access console and set my stats. Same end result. Quote:

I mean, all those perks are nice and all, but, honestly, just like in the older fallouts, increasing your base stats is incredibly useful. Each base stat increase also affects its connected skills. Having ten agility at the start, for instance, increases your sneak and small guns skills to 25 before tagging. Beyond that they also have their own side effects, like crits for luck, improvements for all social interactions for charisma, AP increase for agility, etc. etc. So when I have to choose between an increase to two skills, or a smaller increase to two skills plus over arching improvements to the whole of my character I choose the latter.

Warning: End-of-game things ahead!
Sweet Zombie Jesus, but Liberty Prime was the greatest single thing Bethesda did with this game! He's everything I ever wanted in a 1960's style war-bot. I mean, he shoots eye lasers, spouts anti-communist rhetoric, and throws nuclear bombs like footballs. His activation and rampage through town really made the final quest for me. I would also like to point out that Harold in Oasis creeps me the fuck out.

Dunwich Building creeps me out hardcore. It feels like if the Umbrella Corporation and a C'thulhu cult hooked up.

Though I don't quite understand how or why he'd travel so far from the west coast to the east coast, I'm glad Harold showed up. He was one of my favorite Fallout series characters.

Only managed to play it for around an hour tonight (very busy day left me with no time) but I succesfully found Dogmeat (I love him, he's awesome), and came across an impressive horde of weapons just south east of Megaton, including a scoped magnum, a laser rifle (pretty weak, but looks nice), a crap ton of ammo and a mininuke, which counts as ammo.I don't know what kind of weapon it is that fires frikkin' mini nukes but I intend to find out! Also found that nuka cola quantum, so I'm taking EVILNess' advice and holding on to that for now. I also found a flamethrower and recieved a few stealth boys, which look awesome.
All in all, not a bad nights haul.

Mini nuke goes with a launcher called 'Fat Boy'.
It's pretty awesome, but irradiates the area you fire into, so be careful. You can also insta-gib yourself very easily with it.

Well, 'Fat Man', actually. He grew up.
After going over to the Fallout wiki and checking out the weapons, I have found out that there's a lot of constructable ones that I haven't even found the schematics for yet. Like the Deathclaw Gauntlet. Yes, it's a real thing. Time to make an Unarmed character and achieve greatest victory.

So I got this yesterday (for 360 sadly, as my computer can't come close to running it) and I have but one thing to say:
Fuck yes. Very very immersive, fun combat, love VATS, story is great, tons to do, likeable characters (<3 Moira)...Definitely a game of the year. But not unlike Oblivion/Morrowind, between the design and the sneaking-up tendencies of the monstrous enemies (and the relative lack of health compared to other games), Mirelurks and ants and crap scare the hell out of me. Especially Mirelurks, since they do shittons of damage. I prefer fighting people. And the VATS craziness, like splattering someone's head with a 10mm pistol, is hilarious. |
