By the way, about the signs of apocalypse, if anyone's read Lucifer by Mike Carey? When the angel of silence speaks? Black mage's tears is nothing like that, sorry.

Onion kid is Black Mage.

He is driven to near-insanity by the torment caused by his future self to the point that his only drive is to kill Black Mage. The act of killing his own future self is that which impresses the Dark Gods to bestow power upon a soul so evil. At some point, Black Mage will be sent into the past (most possibly in a circumstance that involves the Cosmic Jackass, Sarda) and the whole process repeats itself, with the Onion Kid in endless torment by his own future self, who in turn is in endless torment by Fighter.

Therefore, the universe exists to torture Black Mage, QED.
