The classic scary mist of horror flims rolled in just on time, and Rudy rose like an old movie vampire rising from his coffin. "If that magic bullet is on Red Island, you certainly can't hope to stop me." He locked eyes with Ming in the Hypnotic Death Stare, trying to send her into a deep trance. "How long have you hid behind your desk Colonel? I'm sure if you really wanted back into active combat, you would've gotten transferred away from guard duty at the gate." He stepped closer to her daring a fist to strike. "Go ahead take the first shoot."

With a grunt of rage, Leraje looked about himself, but saw nothing but a chilling fog. He heard the great axe of Colonel Ming slicing through the air still... the ragged breathing of all but Rudy... the footsteps of nearly everybody, but could not distinguish between any of it, and that was not nearly precise enough for his craft... he knew where Ming _was_ when the fog rolled in, but she was already on the move... who knew where she was now?... It was obvious she was spouting some vampiric knowledge, but why?... He heard Rudy's voice respond... a curious thing, it was... but still did not give him the truth of their location, only their vague direction.

He called out loud, uncaring if his location was made known... "Yes! We outnumber the enemy, and call much more powerful magics and range to our side. This fog helps HER not us! Get rid of it or I shall!"

Ming's face looked strained as she tried to resist Rudy...and then was given a good sticking by Akane right in her cheek. She had dropped to one knee, and without even rubbing her cheek, she moved against Akane.

Ming tackled Akane to the ground like a tentacle monster from some hentai. The next thing Akane knew, Ming had turned her into a makeshift flail by taking hold of her ankle. It was difficult to resist the momentum of Ming's rotations and Rudy was quickly in the attack path.

SITREP Update: All other enemy units besides Ming are not moving. Apparently, Ming's just going to forget about giving orders to try to take on the whole party herself.

Akane's delivered a good punch to Ming and now Akane has become Ming's new unwilling weapon.

Damn, Rudy thought, I really was planning on that working better than it did. Now Colonel Ming was swinging his comrade like a cat by the tail. Or like swinging a catgirl by the tail if you could imagine that. Though I doubt it would be a good idea to try and recreate that image. Rudy’s limited experience with catgirls is what got him into trouble with Nyam.

Rudy planted his feet shoulder length apart, and raised his fists in anger. It looked like he was ready to stand his ground. He started making a raspy, malevolent hiss. He ferociously bared his fangs. When Ming turned back to the vampire she was met with a visage most foul. Rudy had activated Frightening Cadaver in hopes of baiting her to quit. “Give it up Ming. This exercise is over. We’ve beaten you flunkies. And you’ve been deserted in this mist. Unless you want to offer me a meal, you better yield.”

Beladere was watching from on high, grinning lecherously. He had been mostly ignored, and had a great view of the proceedings. Watching the two women wrestle was the height of his day. And here was that Rudy fellow trying to spoil it all.

"Hey there!" He waved to them. "You can't just end everything like that!" He told the vampire. "It's your duty to save the damsel in distress." Seamlessly shifting from inaction to full out offence, Beladere pulled out his pistols.

"Crossfire", he yelled dramatically as he let off to gravity charged bullets at Ming, taking great care to keep them away from Akane. Beladere really was looking forward to see the cute general floating upside down.

"Eh, sure. I concede. Victory is yours."

Ming had been locked down again by Rudy, then with Akane still in grasp, was lifted twenty feet off the ground, breaking Rudy's lock on her, and was now left hanging there upside-down by Beladere's powers. "Here, vampire. Catch Miss Yukio."

Ming tossed Akane down to Rudy. Then she looked at Beladere. "Master Sestis, if you would be so kind?"

Beladere obeyed, mainly because he wasn't getting anything good to see regardless. Cael's mist dissipated and Ming retrieved her axe. "Good job,a ll of you." she approved. "You have some kinks to work out regarding team cooperation, but I never expected you all to function like a well-oiled machine to begin with. Areas of improvement aside, you all handled yourselves well under the pressure and pulled out an impressive victory."

Medics arrived on the battlefield quickly following the end of the battlefield to carry or simply escort Ming's soldiers from the field. "You all should get yourselves checked out in the infirmary as well. You have time and all since Rem seems to be missing."
Radian looked around quickly. "Hmmm...yeah, I noticed she wasn't speaking since Master Cael cast his fog on the proving grounds. I'll go find her."

"Don't worry about Rem," Ming assured the group. "I'm sure she just had a really good idea and thought you'd be fine without her advice just this once. In the meantime, you should probably think about a name for your squad. I was thinking about calling the squad Indestructible Souls, but you're the people in the squad. You all should have a say in what you'll call yourselves."

Now that the field was once again open to his eyes, Leraje scanned about... seeing that, indeed, the fight was over, and the Colonel had submitted. The fight was.... disappointing, to the say the least. With a heavy sigh, Leraje followed the medics back to the infirmary, to be "checked out," as per Ming's suggestion. He wasn't given the best care in prison, and wanted to know how bad the damage was.

As he walked, his mind traveled back to the years he spent locked away in solitary... how he had dreamed of a thousand ways his escape or release from prison would go. The magic... the blood... the deaths that would inevitably follow. He never thought his first battle after being released would be a mock battle. His spell fury had been cooled before it really got going... hell, he had only used one hand of his magics. He even had purposefully not killed anybody... why?... Hmph...

From Rudy's perspective, Akane made a rapid descent. Her lithe figure in free fall, Rudy scrabbled to catch her. In two paces she was just above Rudy's head. Then she actually crashed on Rudy's head, the only blow to land in the whole battle. He fell to the gentle grass on his back with Akane atop him. She was much taller than him. Rudy groaned in pain beneath her as Akane's fist collided with his gut. Not a full punch but still hurt. He shoved her off him and rolled away. "Good God," he said, "You weigh a lot more than I thought you did."

Rudy laid on the grass watching the mist left. He saw the clouds appear. They were moving quick southward. The southern trade wind if he wasn't mistaken. The medics around him picked their personal from the field, including the sword holder now holding a rag to his neck. Rudy stared at the clouds trailing over Red Island. A magic bullet, he thought to himself. Beladere uses those fancy revolvers he's so proud of, but I don't think the bullets are magic.

Should I ask Ming what kind of bullet she was talking about? Rudy mused to himself. He got to his feet. Ming had called them indestructible. Being a vampire didn't make Rudy's form indestructible. This body had definite vulnerabilities to the harsh sun and torrent waters. But, damn it, Rudy was a sailor. A soul is stronger than any weakness you've got. So maybe Indestructible Souls was an apt title.

He didn't need medics. The attractions at the base camp wouldn't be enough to distract him. Rudy stood and looked back towards the GKS Luguro. He began to fret over the cat girl he had inadvertently cursed with his blood. He followed the Colonel. With a complete humility, "Colonel Ming, if I could please talk with you, I have a small request." The fight was behind him and he was not gloating. "I request the addition of a petty officer from the Luguro to company our expedition into Red Island."

"Hmmm...you mean from one of those?" Ming asked Rudy, looking around his head. Radian had found Rem, and much more, they had brought a party of their own. "I wonder what Rem is intending to do with those people?"

Radian and Rem stopped within casual speaking distance and stepped aside, revealing the amassed people behind them. Each one was familiar to at least one of the search and rescue squad.

"Allow me to present to you the Azure Wellspring Squad, which will provide support to the main squad with their talents," Rem said with a smile.
Ming folded her arms. "What's the meaning of this, Rem? Not that I'm against it or even complaining as I'm sure you've gotten approval from Admiral Finchfield, but still."
"For whatever reason, the GKS Luguro is docked here indefinitely by order of Her Majesty Viris Galvantyne. I decided to try the ship for people with good support skills as they may work better with the battle squad due to familiarity and comraderie. Or at least, that's what I'm hoping. Anyways, from left to right, please introduce yourselves."

A woman with shiny pinned-up black hair saluted first. "Lance Corporal Lulu, reporting for duty. I'm a Forcer skilled with Boost and Enhance magic, and I will support this unit by providing reliable night watch support."
A blonde girl who looked to have a future in porn saluted next. "Petty Officer Third Class Ezra, reporting for duty. I'm a Blender who dual wields with a longsword and a dirk, and I'm a master at Earth magic. I'm also an excellent cook and watcher."
A catgirl was next. "Petty Officer Third Class Nyam, reporting for duty. I am a Rusher with two big claws and advanced Control magic. I am also a scout who can get you advanced intelligence on enemies long before they know they've been found out."
A redhead who looked suspiciously like Radian rendered her salute. "Petty Officer Second Class Saren, reporting for duty. I'm a Breaker class with a gigantic sword and a massive hammer, both of which would seem impossible to wield were I not a character in a fantasy RP. But I am, so there. Oh, and I know a lot about wilderness survival and I have some tactical expertise."

Rudy noticed that Saren now wore a choker. It was all too clear that Saren had allowed, or probably begged Nyam to drain her to curb her hunger. Saren did seem uncomfortable with the two new holes in her neck.
A beautiful girl with long blonde hair presented arms, then. But she turned out to be a guy in reality when his clearly male voice sounded off. "I am Petty Officer Second Class Luco. I'm a Shooter with a longbow and two revolvers with advanced talent in Light magic. I'm also a terrific hunter so you'll never have to worry about missing meat with your meals."
Finally, a man with short platinum hair saluted. "I am Petty Officer First Class Bertz, in charge of the Azure Wellspring and reporting for duty. I am a Shooter unit with a scytherang, a flare gun, and advanced skill with Healing magic. I'll make certain we provide quality support without getting in your way."
Rem smiled satisfactorily. "It never hurts to have assistants, you know. The main squad can get food without having to gather it themselves, get a good night's sleep without having to keep one eye open, and be refreshed with high morale for whatever comes our way."

Ming shrugged. "Whatever you decide, Rem. You obviously know what you're doing."
Now the tactician adopted a serious expression. "Once we're all rested and ready, we should get moving so as to encounter the Dark Nation's border guard before dusk. From what the reports say, it shouldn't take but an hour of travel from the gateway before we encounter one of their formations."

Everything happened so fast, Akane wondered if maybe the world was under Boost magic as well. In one moment, after being swung around like a rag doll, she was pulled into the air, dangling upside down with Ming holding her leg. Then, just as quickly, Ming said something about surrendering and Akane was falling, well more like plummeting. She was bracing for a broken bone when she landed, except she collided with something...fleshier. Rudy had taken it upon himself to catch her, but instead she crashed onto his head and then on top of him, accidentally hitting him in the stomach. He shoved her off of him and made a comment about her weight. Akane was getting ready to launch him into oblivion but thought better of it, they would need all the help they could get on this mission. "Maybe I'm not the heavy one and you're just weak, vampire," she mumbled loudly as she dusted herself off. Everyone was going to the medical tents for treatment, and although she wasn't hurt, she followed all the same.

Once inside, they were introduced to another group of people, mostly from the boat, who would accompany them on their journey. They all seemed capable enough in their own rights. While they were introducing themselves Akane had fished another cigarette out of her pocket, for some unknown reason her packets of cigarettes were never crushed in a fight. She lit it, took a drag, and moved over to the blond femboy she had seen on the boat. "So, it seems like your green haired friend hasn't washed ashore yet. I hope he'll be ok after the punch I gave him."
