Why is everyone surprised. A figment of fighter's imagination getting stopped by imaginary fighters.
BLM was just shocked at how fast fighter could move from team to team... and fighter thinking he could make a team full of him.

Fighters new tricks are incredible. Now if the other characters start pulling off more stunts like this I think we might just have an epic ending in our futures. =]

8BT has an eerie habit of simultaneously shocking me and not shocking me at the same time. This was certainly one of the strips to do that. Good work.

8bt (and comedy in general) makes -ALOT- more since when you realize Funny > continuity.if that gag happened on The Simpsons or Family Guy who among you would start making crazy theories?
P.S.Nice one Mr.Brian I look forward to reading the end of this epic over the next few weeks/months

Forgive me for noticing but I believe that neither the Simpsons nor Family Guy would be good examples of continuity. Futurama would be, but believe me the fans have to draw up some pretty contrived theories for even that one to have no retconning.
But I do agree that this strip was a nice one. I think it demonstrates perfectly what Brian meant when he said that Fighter appears to be the dumbest, but is actually the smartest. By being oblivious to reality, Fighter gained the ability to bend it to his will. And he was smart to know that he could do that. At least, that's my theory.

Futurama is more likely to wipe memory of an event (Nibbloanian's,Brain invasion etc..),Undo the effect of the event entirely (Kiff coming back to life,Re-Aging etc..) or come up with some frame work that makes it not matter (The "What if Machine" for instance) Then to just throw continuity out the window entirely. So it would have been a less logical choice if my intent was to explain the lack of importance of continuity in the comedic art form.

So, I get it. I think.
Fighter's imaginary selves stopped the avatar, also imaginary, from stopping fighter. This means fighter is simply visualizing his mental conflicts. He is probably a very visual learner and person, a thought expressed by his "swordchuks", which were made to look like nun-chuks he loved so much, his attraction to shiny things, and his focus on similarly shaped objects in terms of preference. Nunchuks are, as mentioned above in a way, similarly shaped to attached swords... |

fighter bent reality with his extreme stupidity to make more fighters, which overpowered swordopolis. I wonder if fighter is going to get sword-chucks for xmas. |

I don't understand why so many people think Swordopolis is a hallucination... it's quite clear he's not.
Let's assume that I make up words sometimes. |
