Warhammer Online

So, I was looking for an MMO to play, and couldn't find any free trials of FFXI, so I decided I'd try out Warhammer Online since I'd seen some ads for free trials and was pretty sure I heard it was good. So, that brings us to now, and I am downloading the patch so I can play the game.

Does anyone here play it? Is there a specific race or career you'd recommend for someone new to the game? Anything I should know beforehand? Also, which realm should I join and why?

I just downloaded the trial too. It's fun. Very similar fundamentally to WoW, but there's enough different ideas poured into the mix to make it still possibly appealing to those bored of WoW (like me).

Haven't played enough to answer your specific queries. :\

EDIT: Note that I've only played a very little on three characters while pretty tired, so I could be devastatingly wrong.

Oh, also, I've seen ads for FFXI trials around, even went to download it at one point then remembered I irrationally hate it. <_<

Been playing since release. I never liked PvP in MMOs before, but I'm addicted to it in WAR. I suggest joining a high population server and partaking of PvP as often as possible. You get the best equipment out of it, especially later in the game, and it's just fun. 1v1 is a rarity. The game is built around teams of 24 going head-to-head (or multiple teams of 24 if you're lucky!). The PvE game isn't bad, the AI serious pales compared to the human factor.

I gravitate toward ranged DPS classes in MMOs, and of those I played the Engineer and Squig Herder were the most fun in terms of class mechanics, flavor, and overall effectiveness.

I stopped playing awhile back but I remember it to be hella fun, especially the pvp. I played a Ironbreaker, they made tanking fun, and makes you feel like you make an impact!

Are there any specific servers you'd guys recommend? I changed my account to a full one, and it'll let me transfer my character to a different realm, so I'm wondering which one I should choose. It doesn't say how populated they are.

I'm playing a Dwarven Slayer, if that's at all relevant.

WAR is an excellent PvP game. If all you want to do is PvP, you can do that, and level/gear yourself quite nicely. You dont even have to do scenarios all the time if you dont like it (I sort of dont). The PvE is good, but needs lots of polish. The best feature of it is the Tome of Knowledge, which chronicles everything you do and supplies backstory on it.

As far as realm-balance, it seems destruction tends to win. I used to play on an order-dominant server, but that has changed. Buty i havent played sine slayers/choppas came out. Ive just been too busy to get my MMO on.

Well, my computer died last night, and I had to reinstall the OS and lost a lot of stuff. And so, near the top of the list of things to reinstall is Warhammer Online, but I don't know how to go about reinstalling it. I payed the digital download fee on their website, and now I don't know how to download and install it again so I can get back to playing. Any ideas?

I think buy a disk.
I have the game but i havent bothered puting it on my CPU....frankly im a little scared I'll get addicted to it

No, thank you. I already payed forty dollars to purchase the full version and a month of gameplay. I don't want to do it again.

I redownloaded the trial version. Ideally, since I already payed for the upgrade, it should automatically upgrade to the full version. At least after it finishes downloading the retarded amount of patches.
