So, I have my ACE test coming up in two hours or so. I'm trying to do some last minute cramming, and I'm starting to freak out. I've heard from some coworkers that the InDesign ACE (the one I'm taking this afternoon) is complete balls to get through, and I'm starting to get really bad test anxiety.
It's been a couple years since I was last in school so the horror that was midterms/finals is coming back to haunt me. Anyone have any good tips to share for relieving test anxiety? Or possibly any horror/embarassing stories to try to make me feel better? ![]()

Chew gum. Or don't give a shit.
I suppose I'm just too accustomed to give any better advice. I have exams every other week.

Yeah, it's been a long time since I took an important test. I wish I could not care, but this is a really big deal to me. ![]()

Your avatar really adds to this. Looks frantic.
I've heard peppermint helps for some reason. Back in elementary school, my school really pushed them during the big tests. |

Get something like gum that you can chew on that helps you releive stress. My personal favorite is Laffy Taffy. It helps to give me a couple seconds to sit back and organize my thoughts while I focus on opening the wrapper.

Don't do last minute cramming.
It won't help in any significant way. Just sit down and do something else to distract you. Go draw or read or whatever. It's always worked for me. |

Take measures to calm yourself. Play a game you like, but aren't going to get lost in, listen to some music, etc.
The key is to be at ease when you take a test, because if you're at ease, you go in with a better "I've got this" attitude, where if you go in stressed, you can't concentrate.

Just relax the day before the test. Best thing to use is a funny/action movie that you can blob out and not think about. It'll help a lot to calm you down and you'll do heaps better in the test.

My dad has the worst anxiety - but after he takes his tests.
One example of this was in our family trip to New York, we met up in Vancouver after he had done a big test based around addictions, which he had been studying for for a period of six months or so. We spent the night in Vancouver, went from there to Chicago and caught a connector flight to New York. Not a day passed where he wasn't muttering "Got that wrong, got that wrong got that wrong..." In turns out he was in the top 5%. |

She'll do good. She made photoshop do basically whatever I want.
