From what I read of Ultimate X-Men, it's still pretty serious. Granted, nobody's been killed for real as far as I kept track of it (although there were a few close calls and fake-outs), but the portrayal of Weapon X as being incredibly cruel and putting bombs in people's brains isn't exactly Disney material, and then you have Kurt kidnapping Dazzler and a few points where Wolvie gets pretty graphically injured all things considered with the target audience. Also, blatantly implied sex, which is a HUGE no-no when making things family-friendly.

I mean, I very much liked (most of) what I read, when it didn't seem they were scrambling for filler and switching artists every issue, and seeing the cast as actually being teenagers with insecurities and understandable problems worked very well for a modernization. I'm just not seeing how it's not gritty, because it very much is, again, so far as I read and followed in absence of issues.

Did you....see the end of third Pirates movie? Because I know they were having sex. It was pretty implied.

Being owned by Disney doesn't imply that the company will suddenly be neutered to be "family friendly"....I mean Disney does still own Miramax, do they not? Admittedly, they are more directly run by Disney since the Weinsteins left, but they still put out There Will Be Blood and No Country For Old Men last year.

Also, I will play any Marvel vs. Disney fighting game where you can be Chernabog....or Maleficent.

But not to the point where both were obviously naked and which was heavily beaten on in the planning phases for a good three issues. Pirates was subtle about it. Ult X-Men made a huge deal about how it was going to happen and then showed the aftermath just to drive the point home.

Damn... When I was paying attention to the Ultimate X-Men, Wolvie was actually a teenager (now he's just like his regular counterpart in age), Spidey wasn't found out, and Jean had JUST decided to "make out" with Wolvie instead of Cyclops.

Now you're telling me that entire series is just the regular series just... teenish?
