It seems we have another evil Cid, this time in the shape of Lelouch Lamperouge. Or is that Gackt?

Definitely Gackt.

On the other hand, the Japanese trailer showed him to be at least a passingly decent guy, so I don't know if "villain" really counts. Maybe unwilling anti-hero? Or simply rival?

Edit: Well, that was productive. All they have is that he's an officer of Sanctum and an assumption he's a rival. Which is a pretty good assumption, but I guess we really know jack about him at the moment.

Some people on the wiki are thinking it's Gilgamesh, but it has a pinched-in waist along with it, leading me to think it's Asura, too, since in FF, Asura has always been portrayed as female.

Edit: And Hecatoncheir was the guardian of the Earth Fang (and used Quake) in Final Fantasy III. So if it is Hecatoncheir, it would fit (even though using him instead of someone like Titan is odd, but eh).

I personally doubt it's Gilgamesh because 1) he's typically not a summon and B) the name is nearly never applied the way "Cid" is or anything, i.e. different characters in each game that just happen to have the same name due to a series tradition.

With the possible exception of FFIX, Gilgamesh has always been the same character, originally from FFV and displaced from his homeworld by Exdeath, adventuring around the greater FF multiverse searching for legendary swords and getting into fights with aspiring heroes. The likelihood of one of the FFXIII world's autobots or whatever going by the name Gilgamesh is unlikely, and largely fueled by the vain hopes of fanboys.

Is there a source on that? Just wondering, because the only place I've seen that originate from so far is a YouTube comment, and I'd like to put the argument to rest if I can.

Cid is one of the few characters with CG renders, which means he apparently was designed by Nomura. Which also means he is either a party member (unlikely) or one of the main villains (more likely).

Goddammit I wanted Jihl to be the bad guy.
