so, uh, yeah.
http://na.cityofheroes.com/en/about_...m_overview.php in short: if you've never played CoH and join, you're a F2P player and you get most of the basic stuff. if you've ever given CoH money at some point, e.g. buying the game or playing for however many months, you're premium, which has benefits like being able to play Mission Architect arcs or access to the ingame marketplace, etc. if you choose to keep paying monthly fees, you get VIP status and the latest expansion plus most of the locked content included. They also reactivated all of their lapsed accounts, so if you ever played CoH at all before you can just download the client and log back in. they removed the hero/villain limitation on archetypes (e.g. you can be a heroic Mastermind or a villainous Blaster), you choose which side you're on during the tutorial mission. however, a couple of the standard archetypes, plus the elite archetypes, are locked out and need to be either purchased or unlocked by being VIP. I figured what the hell, dusted off my old account, having a decent amount of fun starting a new character. anyone else interested in the new vistas of F2P superheroics? especially ssince, as far as I can tell, they haven't made the F2P model quite as pants-on-head retarded as champions online did. |
