Saddam had been convicted

Looks like Saddam is going to hang for crimes against humanity. Apparently there are issues with people thinking that the trial was one big sham, that he really never had a chance.

But then again, if a guy is guilty beyond doubt, should the justice system give him a chance to walk free? He's not a nice guy, but I'd hate to think the trial wasn't 'fair'. Because if it wasn't, that could make for a slippery slope to execute anybody who disagrees with the current world mentality...
