Default Warcraft III/Frozen throne (yeah I know I'm late)

Does anybody here play the game. I just got it (after being brow beaten by a friend to get it) and its okay i guess. Who else plays it./

Warcraft 3 is considered to be a staple of all RTS libraries.

I'm not an RTS player (except for C&C), so I don't have it. *cough*

It's a fun game, a little tough at parts, but overall, fun.

Much like Brian, I totally suck at RTSs, so I kind of avoid them. I mean, yeah, Warcraft III was fun, but fuck it gets boring to lose at some point. And I just end up using the cheats.

I don't know -- just seemed too hard to me, but that's because I play RTSs with all the skill of an infant monkey. Which is retarded. And has hooks for hands. And whose screen is covered in poo.

...

I hate RTS, but I like WC3, the campaogn had a lot of dungeon crawling RPG like segments, and the units were ptetty cool, plus level editor was neat. Its alrihgt, but I really only played a bit. I mihgt buy myslef a copy if I can find it cheap.

Gods yes. I suck at RTS games too, and it's even worse because all my PC gaming friends love them. Half of our LAN parties might as well be called Sodomize Julian '07!

The only game I'm marginally successful at is DOTA, and that's because I can manage one unit easier than I can whole armies.

I am going to emphasize this statement - custom maps are nothing like normal maps on battlenet, as normal maps actually implement all of the game's rules - you only start with your main HQ building. However, custom maps tend to make things that are not War Craft III at all - for instance, a Dungeons and Dragons map. A Dungeons and Dragons map clearly does not utilize RTS skill.

Unless it's a really bad Dungeons and Dragons map.

And might I mention you can find FFT maps out there.

If you liked starcraft, there is always Project Revolution. I modded warcraft III for a number of years, but the community died down considerably after WoW came out

Most of the fun is to be had via the various mods and custom maps.
