We all do it. That thing or things that people get all up in arms about, but then go do themselves. Makes you wonder why it's like that.

You get the idea. What does everyone here think? Is it because we, ourselves, refuse to be saddled with something society doesn't like that we do, and try to hide it? Is it a bandwagon thing? Is it because we feel that if they're going to do it, for Heaven's sake not in public? Could it be that we just refuse to take a good look in a mirror?

I actually work as a cashier, and I'm probably the worst person to do that. I hate practically everyone who comes through my lane, even if its for a reason which comes into direct conflict with the thing I hated about the person before them.

And that isn't exactly what I meant. I mean like the examples I have up and others. What makes us so quick to attack others for things we do ourselves?

Then again, as a deli worker for Roundy's, I have to do everyone else's job, too. Not only do I dish out food, but I have to slice meat from the meat department, check people out as a cashier, know where to find any given item in grocery, and get people help in the bakery department, since they're right next to us and are chronically short-staffed. The only people's job I don't do is handle frozen dairy. And even then, I have to direct people to it once in a blue moon. And cleaning, of course.

Any time I've had a service job, I end up hating the customers for basically every single thing I do when I'm a customer. What's worse is that then when I go to a similar establishment as a customer, I act like even more of an ass, out of some kind of sense of entitlement.

That's different from having cash as your sole job. I've never worked cash, myself, but I imagine (depending on the place) that it's about as bad as working in a call centre.

The problem with cashiering is that you have to stay at your register, which means you can't walk around and talk to other employees to relieve stress. Further, the only people you really do get to talk to are the customers, and they're never there long enough to be 'good' customers (you know, how if you work the floor occassionally you'll end up bullshitting with some random guy), but they are there long enough to be annoying. Further, they're on the way out, so you get to deal with every little problem they had in the store, whether it be a shitty hardware guy, or they couldn't find something, or whatever.

Cashiers get the worst shit.

But that's really not the subject--and I'm pretty good about not being hypocritical... mostly because I tend to catch myself doing it and bitch at myself for it.

Here's a good one for just about every man, though--unshaven women? Gross. You shave? NEVER!
