Interesting stuff. It's mass if five times that of Earth, so I doubt us humans (or Meister) would be able to survive on it. However it is the right distance and the right temperature to nearly match that of our planet.

Is it just me or is everyone being closed-minded here? I mean, we have found life at the utter extremes of this planet. Boiling hot, freezing cold, and extreme pressure would all kill you or me, but there are things that thrive on them. Who's to say that Jupiter doesn't host some kind of bacteria or even something more complex, eeking out a living in the swirling gasses or miles below them on the surface?

Generally, when people refer to "life" outside of the solar system, and the big deal about finding it, they are refering to complex, non-microscopic organisms that may or may not be intelligent.

It's interesting to find bacteria on another planet, sure, but it's nothing all that hot any more. Bacteria has been found on asteroids and Mars. It would not, then, be surprising to find them on other planets. That's why this is a big deal. It's an Earth-like enough planet that it may have more complex, more compelling forms of life on it.

Anyway, am I the only one that is constantly surprised by the fact that we can find out all this stuff about a hunk of rock trillions of miles away? I mean, I know we have the technology, but every time I hear about people actually using it, I get all blown away.
