FRONT KICK OF DOOM!

A while back I looked into a review of Kane and Lynch... Lo and behold, someone put their butt on the line to say that the game wasn't the greatest thing since sliced bread (And killed his career in the process). Kinda disappointing to me simply because I was really excited to see a game based off of being an evil antagonist with big guns. -_- Anyway, the point is that different magazines and groups have different criteria with "What makes a game great?"
Which got me to thinking about different magazines... We all have some great ones we love and hate for reasons unknown to others. Ex: I will never touch EGM again simply because they love to treat their fanbase like crap. Then again, when your main audience is in the 10-17 market and you're a teensy bit older, it goes to say you need something with more meat and potatoes. D So here's a few I recommend while wanting to see what others like: Play - Good reviews and accurate info. If a game sucks and just IS NOT playable, they'll tell you. With Play, they do less of the "This game is comparable to X" and more "Are you going to have fun with this?" And they're not part of the Ziff Davis group. At least, last I checked... B- Edge - Ya know, everyone wants in on the game industry. For me, I love games and stuff and I found this one in B&N waiting for me. Not only do they tell the ins and outs of the games (decent reviewing system) but they advertise a helluva lot of different gaming schools, jobs, and things to show HOW to get in. A Look for more as I find em. |

The website says they gave it a 63%, although I don't know about the print version and indeed it could be a different "Play" altogether given the apparent difference in rating system.

i have never read a issue of EGM ... but i hate it. Mostly becausethis one issue i saw t a newstand once had a cover about Halo 3 that said (translated, ofcourse) "CRY IT OUT PS3. HALO 3 IS HERE."
Since that day i understood that most of the big magazines (and sites?) simply suck on several ranges of levels |

I actually really like EGM. I've read it for years and would never consider canceling it.
GI is pretty good too. |

I read Nintendo Power ( the Brazilian version, which is a LOT different ) sometimes, along with PS Mania ( Dunno if you people have that there ) which, despite centering on Sony, also has some stuff from Nintendo and Microsoft.

My friend gave me a couple extra issues of EGM he had, it seems pretty decent for a gaming magazine.

EGM isn't perfect but I like it. I used to read gamepro but it didn't match my tastes. EGM does seem to give rather accurate reviews in my opinion and it keeps me up to date. Besides I love Hsu n Chan
