Advance Wars 4

Yeah, so this game is out in less than 2 weeks and I haven't seen a single topic about it. Isn't anyone excited? Advance Wars! With wi-fi!

From the looks of it, they've made lots of improvements but at the same time have done things I'm not too happy about. They finally have a heavy tank (wonder why they never got around to it in 1-3...), and they now have Bikes and some kind of fighter with machine guns called a Duster.

The thing is that now they have decided to scrap the old story. It's now your generic post-apocalyptic Mad Max situation... and not only is that cliche'd, but since when has a "grittier, darker" take on a game's setting EVER been a good idea?

I miss Grit already.

Anyway, what do you think?

I don't mind the fact they're trying something new. Mainly because the old story was essentially 'Black Hole's up to something, go kill them. Oh, and any ally you meet will want to test you by engaging in all out warfare and sacrificing men and resources, rather than just agreeing to help'.

I liked the old ones, but it really was time for a change.

Yeah I found it rather... disturbing that the COs in the last 3 were a buncha kids treating war like it was a fucking picnic. I hope that the new COs are a little bit more fleshed out than those (mostly) 2-dimensional old COs. Also, AW + Wifi = Win so I can't for this...

While I will miss the characters I have played with for 3 game, (Bye Lash

) this will probably be the game that makes me fork over money to buy one of those wifi dongles that Nintendo sells.

Expect to see me on wifi.

Yeah, just looked the game up and realized that. The DS is fun and all, but I'm really ready for an Advance Wars game on my nice big TV, not that tiny screen.

Seriously, decent game with Advance Wars tacked on. Maybe the second one on the Wii, but definitely rent the first one.
