I actually tend to forget that this is happening as one of the only two good things on TV before it happened was Psych and that's still running new episodes but every once in a while it's like oh yeah there's no new TV at all, how about that.
Anyway I find one of the great benefits of having a writer's strike in the era of Internets is the really great strike blogging. I mean hey it turns out this Joss Whedon guy can turn out a pretty inspiring call to arms when the mood strikes him, who woulda thunk it? I keep hoping they stick it out long enough to actually get their money's worth out of the studios, though that's probably less out of concern for the writers' well-being than my deep-seated hatred of The Man. What I still don't get is why Joe Quesada hasn't gone down to the picket lines and picked up all the A-list talent at cut-rate prices he can get his hands on. I mean DC is lock and stock of the Time Warner AOL Media Empire so they're not making any clever moves but you'd think someone at Marvel would say hey there's all these writers who ain't doin' nothing why don't we toss 'em a couple of bucks to write us some stuff? I dunno I mean, I'm making a lot of assumptions here I guess.

That would be Marvel making a perfectly sound and viable move though and going off of what's happened lately with them I don't see it happening. Plus if they hired new writers, they might actually propose something useful than the garbage Joephisto has decided on recently and hell if he's willing to change 20 years worth of comic book history to what HE wants I doubt he's going to let some new guy tell him what to do.
Tangent aside though, yeah you would think that the writers would try to practice their story-telling for other industries besides Hollywood.

Well, partly because if you're a member of the Writer's Guild and you write ANYTHING during a strike, you're on grounds for being fined/kicked out.
When the Guild goes on strike, they aren't really allowed to write at all. Period.

Writers in the Guild cannot write anything for television or feature films. They can write for blogs, newspapers, reality television (and I believe animated shows, those writers not being covered under the Guild), novels and short stories, standup, sketches, and I guess comics if they wanted, but after being a film/television writer why would you denigrate yourself with that stuff? Anyway, and thankfully, it'll all be moot soon enough...hopefully.

Strike will probably be over before the summer, either the writers will give or their demands will be met. New episodes will only last so long and people hate shitty t.v. who knows, maybe people will go outside. It does look nice from my window.

The idea that Marvel would actually do something smart has been out of the question since Marvel Brand Water.
Anyway. One of the things that worried the everloving bajeezus out of me is that many new shows, due to the writer's strike, would get cancelled. Pushing Daisies is easily #1 on that list, and I know that Chuck is on there somewhere.

I haven't even noticed any difference between now and before the strike. But the only TV show I watch is Mythbusters, so that might have something to do with it.
There was never anything good on TV anyways. I'll stick with videogames, thank you.

As long as the strike is over in time for Burn Notice to be back on the air this summer then that would be nice. But I hope the writers get what they want...however other people are suffering from the strike like the animators of shows like family guy and the Simpsons. So I mean there has to be a time where the sides can agree on something...

My big thing about the Strike isn't so much about the Writers. They have a good reason.
My big problem with the strike are, like said above, those that AREN'T striking. The writers in the guild were prepared for the strike, so they saved up and were ready for the loss of income. However, this strike caused hundreds of actors, set workers, tech crew, lights, and directors went without an income over the holidays. There were people like Leno that still paid their people over the holidays, even without work. And then the Writer's Guild fined and considered kicking him out of the Guild for writing his own stuff. They kind of shot themselves in the foot for that one.
