I'm in my Junior year right now, and I think it is the worst year of school I've ever been through.
All the work seems to be just stacking up and there is alot of pressure to make sure things aren't screwed up before Senior year. Is it like that for everyone or is it just me?

It was like that for me. Freshmen and Sophomore years are for shedding your awkward middle school gawkiness, and then you realize you need to bulk up your academic profile so you can actually get into college and you spend your Junior year at full blast.
However, Senior year, especially after you get your college acceptance letters, is a joke, so there's always that to look forward to. Don't abandon hope yet.

Mine wasn't like that. Then again, one of my classes was band, and another was the ultimate slacker class at my school (Engineering Drafting), so that chops the workload there down by a full 1/3rd.
Seriously, my fourth quarter project in Engineering Drafting? Building a roller coaster out of K'Nex. Didn't have to turn in a paper or a schematic or an actual drafting-whatever in for it. It just had to exist, and work. Another kid played Sim City 3000 as his proect. Best class ever.

Hmm, most hated year of Highschool is probably Senior year simply because it felt like a waste of time, especially that stupid senior project. Seriously, it's basically forced community service. It only feels good when you volunteer to organize bake sales to benefit cancer patients and the like. When you're forced to do it it feels like the judge just handed you 400 hours of community service or it's off to jail with you. I mean, seriously, when someone actually threatens to postpone your graduation if you haven't successfully orchestrated a visit to an old folks' home by a bunch of elementary students in a lame attempt to make them look like they'll win a pizza party for their class when in fact you're just going to rig it so the senior class wins, no matter what your grades, test scores, SAT scores, or how many colleges you've been accepted to, it seems unfair. I don't care how many puppies can be saved from the needle if we just collect enough change, I just want to relax! Of course, I couldn't, and I haven't relaxed since either, the past two years of college have been quite frenzied, tedious, and boring. Kind of makes me wish I could go back to raising funds to remodel the school's ugly foyer.
And yes, all of that was an amalgamation of the various projects my entire class did, but man, organazing those stupid relay contests and faculty/student basketball game felt like I'd had to do all that as well. All just to get free labor out of school students. And people wonder what is wrong with schools.

This conversation makes no sense to me. Why can't you just number your years?
As for the conversation, high school was pretty all sweet. Half-ass research, lack of critical thinking, lazing around on free periods. It all good. Best was my last year (7th form). Kings of the school we were. It helped that we didn't have to wear uniform as marked discriminator from the rest of the school so they could cower before us. After a while didn't even notice people in uniform. They were there, kind of. |

I slept through high school.
Then I got my GED. I don't recommend it, but it was pretty awesome at the time. Especially Senior year. I knew I couldn't pass, but I was there, so my dad's insurance would continue to cover me and so he'd have to pay child support (I was eighteen, and it was eighteen or out of highschool, whichever came later). Nothing's quite as awesome as getting a test and throwing it directly in the garbage. This I do recommend. If you can do it without feeling bad about the 0 you're going to get. Nothing says 'Fuck you' to a teacher you hate more than that. I mean, other than saying, "Fuck you," to a teacher you hate... Except maybe taking a test half way through the semester when you haven't even shown up in class half the time, slept when you did, threw away every other test, and hadn't done a single assignment... and then acing it. Fucking economics. Such a waste of time. It's pretty much common sense.

In case you didn't notice, that was satire. I would say my worst year was the last year of secondary school, which counts as the Freshman year in the United States. My problem, however, was that I had just moved from another state and I had a very difficult time fitting in, considering I was an extremely shy individual back then. My first year of preparatory school (Sophomore year for those of you living under Uncle Sam's blanket) was pretty uneventful. I was part of the big leagues already, but I didn't feel the workload to be that different from before. In fact, I never felt there was a change in that instance. If anything, my Junior year (I had already moved to Texas) was the most problematic one, mainly due to having to adjust to life in other country. Doing SATs and APs wasn't that difficult at the very least. My Senior year was just relaxation time. Last edited by Regulus Tera; 04-14-2008 at 09:27 PM. |

so far both have been a peace of shit for non of my classmates have matured passed middle school. Plus the fact that i could doodle through out a entire class and ace everything/answer all my teachers questions with out the book makes both years a bore

My last year of school was the worst (Year 12). There was so much pressure on me to perform, and if I didn't, there would be no Uni for me. Not only that, but if there was no uni, I would either have to repeat, or drop out and find a new career that didn't involve a degree.
Luckily, I did perform. Although, I had the worst luck. Over here, you compete for spots in University since there is so much demand. You WANT the people from the other schools to do badly, as that will improve your own ranking, and increase your chances of getting into the course you want. The worst part about it was that in the year I was competing, there were more people doing the HSC, and overall, the year did the best on record. I achieved a score that any other year, would have placed me somewhere in the 85-92 range. I ended up 78.75. Luckily, it was just enough to get into my preferred course. The last year in Australia is the worst, as a whole set of exams define your whole future. But its worth it, as the Uni years are the best ever.
