Anywho, my favorites are probably the Wily Stage 1 theme from Mega Man 2, Black Dream from Chrono Trigger, and the opening theme from Yoshi's Story (Because GODDAMMIT that thing is adorable). Lufia 2's Fight with the Sinistrals is good, as well. Can't say I liked much else from Lufia 2 music-wise, though. Gothic Neclord from Suikoden 2, along with Mad Luka, Suspicion, Reminiscence, Tension... The list goes on. Suikoden 2 had some good music, but a lot of it is hit or miss, to be honest. Speaking of Suikoden, the opening theme from Suikoden 3 (Roughly translated as Transcending Love, I think), is a very nice piece of gaming music. Though every single Chrono Trigger (And most of Chrono Cross) track gets honorable mention on account of being an absolutely amazing soundtrack. Final Fantasy Tactics had an amazing soundtrack, too. Finally, Mega Man X gets my "This whole soundtrack is made of win" declaration as well. Armored Armadillo, Flame Mammoth, and Boomer Kuwanger are my three favorites, but it's an all-around good soundtrack. ...Damn, I need to pay more attention to musci in recent videogames. My most recent song in that list is over five years old >.> |

Shadow of the Colossus easily is my favorite orchestral soundtrack. Metroid has some of my favorite music, especially the God-Does-It-Need-A-Remake Metroid 2. Rez's first level Buggie Running Beeps is fucking incredible. Beyond that there's too much to tell, but I'd like to mention that Mega Man and Mega Man X have handfuls of my favorites, such as Storm Eagle, Top Man, and Bubble Man.

It's been, what, 11 years since the FF7 Boss Theme became my favourite videogame song? Still hasn't moved, and I doubt it ever will.
And though it's not a full song, I find myself oddly entranced with the GTAIV loading beat. |

And I'm going to add the title theme from Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest to the list, because I still remember that song. I haven't played the game in at least ten years, and I can still remember that tune. |

Suikoden III's opening number, Exceeding Love.
Also, MGS3's Main Theme, MGS4's Love Theme, MGS2's Alternative Tanker Theme. Most the tracks on Chrono Cross, and ICO's Save Theme, and Laguna's Battle Theme in FFVIII. Also, Magus' theme and Zeal's theme in Chrono Trigger.

The Cheetahmen games have really good music.
I also happen to like the music from Grandia 2 and 3. Except the G3 intro, because I hate crappy girl band stuff. The in-game stuff rocks. The Dream World battle theme from FF8 is awesome. Also, if you have the computer version and a decent wavetable on your sound card (compatible with FF7's Yamaha driver), you will find that the victory fanfare sounds really good with woodwinds in place of the trumpets. Actually, FF8 has a lot of good music in general. Chrono Trigger and Cross both have good music. Some of the songs will bring you to tears. Legend of Dragoon has some pretty good music. Bonus points that it actually varies it up in battle depending on the area you're in. Extra bonus points that you can use the beats to actually help you nail Additions.
