Let me save your night for you, so you don't spend the next several hours compulsively checking websites like CNN and MSNBC:
Mr. Obama's going to win, and I doubt it will even be very close. This will not be a nailbiter of an election, when even "conservatives" like me jumped ship. Despite having voted for the man (a while back, in fact, as I voted absentee) I don't consider myself a wholehearted Barack Obama supporter. He's far from my ideal choice for President of the United States, just a better choice then the guy who chose Sarah Palin as his running mate. That being said, I think it should be in the spirit of all Americans regardless of affiliation to say this: I sincerely hope the next President of the United States, Barack Obama, is the best President we'll ever have. I'd wish the same if it were McCain or any other candidate. I sincerely hope, regardless of partisanship and policies and ideologies, that we are alive and well to see the greatest President ascend to power and use it wisely. So in the spirit of unity, growth and companionship, good luck Barack, congratulations to those who pushed hard for him, and hey: given that nearly anyone would do the job better then Dubya, I think better times are ahead for us.

I'm pretty convinced that even in the long odds that McCain wins, it's entirely possible he'll do a better job than Bush. The bar is set pretty low right now.
I'm still nervous about this though, with the polling numbers much closer than they have any right to be.

Don't take anything for granted, though, everyone. Go vote.
If you didn't register, use this day to register ASAP so that at least you can vote in the next election. I don't really follow polling numbers, especially since different polls get pretty different results, which doesn't seem like it should happen. I still think it's in Obama's favor, though.

Right now it's like 60/40ish, give or take some, and that's hardly a predicted landslide.
Though I do have to say, Snake, thank you for voting for who you think would make a good president as opposed to your party's representative. I know that it's an incredibly difficult decision for you, especially. But it doesn't mean you didn't do the right thing.

Honestly, I'm just thrilled that the cesspool that people call "Campaign Season" is almost over. Neither candidate thrilled me overly much, and I'm not expecting much to change, no matter who wins. I went to vote more for the local elections than I did to vote for President.
That said, I would advise against counting eggs before they are hatched. While I'm pretty well convinced that Obama will win, the last few presidential elections have proven that the Democrats are capable of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Yeah seriously, we need people who ignore party lines and follow the issues. I may have voted differently, but tonight we all get to see a beautiful thing in action. Either way it goes, congrats to the victor. Though I'm going to stop short of trusting any exit polls no matter which way they swing.
This is almost like the super bowl over here. Anyone else got their beer and buffalo wings out? ![]()

The first president to become a Internet MeMe before elected? Impressive!
Still, he shows a good head on his shoulders and a good backup team (always liked Hillary and clinton) so, since everything that happens over there in the US affects everybody everywhere in the globe, i too am happy foh the barack timez we'll be having |

Sorry to butt in with another post, but I've been flipping around stations. Who's "mega-ultra-election-super-coverage-best-team-bang-woosh" would win in a brawl, or for those in the states, a football game?

Well, obviously, the Daily Show. I mean, come on, they're the best f'ing news team on television.
And, in an attempt to stay on topic and assure you people that I'm not completely insane, I won't be too disappointed if Barocko doesn't win. We've seen a lot more people become interested and active in politics from both sides, and voting, at least in Florida, has finally been streamlined. Like synk said in the event entry, it is our right and privilege to vote. Besides, if you don't vote, you can't complain about the results.
