Default World of Warcraft : Now with Voltron

Ulduar is actually two separate raid dungeons in one, with the first part consisting of an epic battle between your large group of players and the vast Iron Army, put in place to keep you from learning the secrets hidden within the dungeon itself. Players will gain access to a fleet of siege vehicles in order to break through to the dungeon, with Choppers, Demolishers, and Siege Engines granting abilities to both pilot and passenger. For instance, passengers in the Demolisher can load themselves into the catapult to be launched into the distance, which sounds like way too much fun.

The entire first section culminates in a battle against the Flame Leviathan, a giant tank built " as part of the V0-L7R-0N weapons platform". V0-L7R-0N? Voltron? Come on Blizzard...don't tease us like this. If the tank doesn't eventually become part of a giant robot, we want our money back.

Ok, So, i guess some of you guys know that the lead design of World of Warcraft is out. He is working on the next Blizzard MMORPG. And now this...

I always wanted to Play WoW, but never did. But at least as far as i know, it was never this much... "steampunked" before... was it? I mean, this is awesome. this is really awesome. Being able to Have Vehicle combat on a raid against the CPU fighting machines, and the promisse of Colossal robots on a Medieval Setting? THis is awesome! They could easily built a entire new game around this idea alone...

But, i dont know... on the other hand the "shark jumping" analogy comes to mind. Is WoW running out of content? I mean, this Raid is enough reason to make you buy these games and pay the fees to you simply be on the Level to actually go there... it makes business sense to add more end-game content. And C'mon... putting Voltron on WoW is Awesome!

So, what's your take?

Oh yeah. Gnomes and goblins have been pulling this stuff on both sides since Warcraft 2 at the latest. Encounters with the Venture Co., Defias Brotherhood, and the entire instance of the irradiated capital of Gnomeregan at the early levels of WoW have all involved battles with various mecha and robots. There are also massive demonic mechs in Outland called Fel Reavers that you don't want to get in the way of, including one named "Negatron" that regularly attacks the Goblin rocket base, Area 52, in Netherstorm. Not to mention all the neat little toys you can build with the engineering skill. None of this is new in the slightest.

Now this I'm less thrilled about, as I've been largely bemused with the vehicle combat so far in Wrath of the Lich King. Like, it's fun and well enough implemented in some occasions. Unfortunately, the other 90% of the time it's one or two completely unnecessary vehicle events tacked on to the vast majority of quest chains in Northrend with awkward controls and underpowered abilities. On several occasions, I've actually found it easier to just get out and fight normally.

So yeah, I'm not looking forward to this instance at all.

Default at least I play for free

Northrend is retarded. There's still some cool-ish LoreLOL when it comes to The Lich King and Kel'Thuzad to be had, but they went and stuck in so many extra races that were never mentioned before and retarded things that seem to jar with the rest of Azeroth so badly... Sure, as posted above, mechanization and the like aren't new to the world, but it's dumb. Let us plow through the Scourge and the Blues and fight the Forgotten One hangin' out up there; stop with the stupid ice dwarves and trolls that no one cares about. Plus the armor designs are shit, in my opinion, and since in WoW you have to dress like everyone else to get the stats we are all stuck wearing them.

A pity, really, since they did a pretty good job with the class upgrades/new talents.

I care about the ice trolls. I was actually really worried that the Zaladar would be forgotten after Zul'Gurub but they're actually a central part of the zone. Warcraft trolls are the best trolls ever.
Also, Storm Peaks is awesome and it took them long enough to pick up the story thread from Uldaman (which really should have run through Uldum first, but whatever).

I'm honestly torn on the armor issue. The designs of the greens and blues were greatly improved over their TBC and Classic counterparts, but there's only one graphic set for either blue or green gear (so the armor matches up nicely and you don't end up looking like a colorblind goon, of course) which means that everyone looks the same all the time more than ever.

On the other hand, the current crop of epics looks absolutely terrible and many of them are reused Tier 3 models that they managed to make look worse somehow. I really was unhappy when I finally upgraded my really snazzy Tier 6 paladin shoulders to the ugly Tier 7.5 ones, especially given that the color palette clashed horribly with the Stone Guard tabard that I grew to love so very much, forcing me to switch to my Argent Dawn one for the sake of good fashion sense.

I am enjoying my little gnome Death Knight that I started up yesterday, though. Nothing more hilarious than tanking fire-breathing dragons and massive demon lords with a tiny pink-haired girl.

a bit off topic, but still... i really think most MMORPG makers should make an option where you pick, like, 2 or 3 colors and those colors schemes should apply to all gear you use. I hardly think this would be hard to do nowadays or even that much demanding. Just give the player something like a 12-24 color pallete and let him pick 2-3 hor his own scheme.

Default I've liked, eh, 3-5 sets, tops.

The posts about what the next tier (not sure if it'll be 8 or just "7.5") also to come with this patch just makes me dislike WoW armor more. I totally can't wait to be a neon-green glowing rogue! So awesome! And Warlocks looking like druids was a terrific idea!

Tier 6 was actually pretty good, for the most part, and tier 5 has good qualities. But man the old-school tiers and the new ones are so lousy.

The Perfect World system is the best: let players choose a visible set and a stat/battle set (these can be the same if they want). Or let players choose whatever pieces they want visually and have the drops in dungeons/from bosses/random world drops be armor upgrades that attach the stats to the visual pieces instead of making us all wear the same pieces (before they actually added an inscription profession, I used to wonder how this might work and thought of it as magical inscription to armor to imbue powers and bonuses).

Bah, character customization is so lousy in most games.

But really, Lich King added motorcycles, so that kind of sums it up...

That's not steampunk, so I'm sure it's not the fantasy equivalent of steampunk.
