I've recently started attempting to write reviews for games...
Here's my review of Street Fighter IV if anyone's interested. http://gamerhighway.com/blog/?p=47 In other news, if you're interested in reading/writing reviews, check out my site, http://gamerhighway.com. It's still a work in progress, but we're making headway. |

Your writing isn't quite up to "professional level", but as that sort of style is mostly defined by Gamespot and IGN I don't think that's too much of a loss. With practice you'll get up to that level.
If you really want to make me your fan write like the guy at Action Button, where reading one review takes something along the lines of half-an-hour because he's just insane. Also, you could try some of the newer things they're doing, like video reviews. Those are big right now. Try to think of some original way of reviewing the game(s) that no one else has thought of. EDIT: Actually, looking at your system, the system of picking and choosing reviews based on the individual's taste seems like a step in the right direction of doing something unique, though it may be unnecessarily convoluted if we can assume the reader is only looking for reviews of games they're interested in anyway. Or something like that. But I think what you're doing is definitely worth a try, though.

Thanks for the constructive feedback. I'll see what I can do. :-) One friend told me that my Chrono Trigger review was my best one, but he wasn't too good at telling me why.
I've kinda thought the same thing about what you're saying. I was thinking of maybe updating it to have a feature where you could search for a game and see any reviews for that game, maybe sorted by people closest to you. The thing is, we simply don't have enough reviews yet to be really effective for that. The initial implementation has the philosophy that if there were enough people, hopefully the people most like you will be playing games you're interested in, and so they'll end up on top anyway. We've got several ideas, but they take time to implement. The tricky thing is splitting time between coding and gaming ;-) Thanks again for the feedback; it's good to hear that you like the idea. If I can't drum up any interest, I'll probably be looking for a new sideproject. |
