A bit sooner, but inspiration pressed me to at least get a signup started and everything. The concept of this RP is action and intense battles. There's a conspiracy and whatnot, but it's not so difficult to figure out what's going on.
Before Last Night The old crone looked up from lightly dozing. The room was quite small, with only a small wooden table and a single candle. But it was well kept with not a bunny of dust nor a cobweb in sight. She regarded the well-dressed gentleman who could easily pass for female with a stern gaze. "You're quite a bit later than you said you'd be," she addressed him through a mouth of mismatched teeth. "I had to remind that mountainous imbecile where his loyalties should really lie," the man replied offhandedly. He tossed a sizeable bag onto the table. There was a considerable number of minor clinking sounds emanating from the bag. "Feel free to check it over if you must." The old woman made no movement to investigate the heaping coin bag. "You'd be a real fool if you would try to short change me or my assassins, especially considering the people you're asking me to have dealt with." Here, she rose from her seat and, assisted with a walking staff that the man was sure bore any number of lethal weapons, shambled to one of the corners. "Why do you even need to deal with an altruistic man like that, anyways? You certainly won't need anything but us." "If there's one thing you learn in the military, it's this: Plan A never succeeds." "You don't trust us to get the job done?" she had a fatal edge in her voice. The man shrugged lightly. "I'll trust the skill of your girls the moment I see those corpses. Indeed, I'd be a fool to try and scam you, but I'd be an even bigger fool if I didn't have something to fall back in case your trained assassins happen to fail." The woman turned around and affixed the man with her single working eye. "So we're just a Plan A?" "And he's Plan B. And I've got a Plan C in place as well. Plan D is what I'll get to work on the moment I leave this room. Need I say anything further?" "Well, I don't suppose I could ask why you want these people killed?" "I don't want any interference, and those people are the worst kind of interference I could encounter. Now, if you'll excuse me." "Rest easy tonight," the old crone said as the man exited. "They're already dead. They just don't know it yet." After Last Night Well, a most curious thing happened to you last night. Somebody broke into your place, somehow bypassing any defenses of any kind you may have set up, and tried to snuff out your life. You managed to defeat the assassin's attempt, and probably even got off a counterattack before the offender successfully fled. The struggle was brief, but you picked up some details: The assassin was not only very skilled, but was also well equipped. The assassin was female, and was a helluva looker at that. The assassin had a strange tattoo on her right hip. It resembled a weeping lilly blossom with a scythe blade attached near the top of it. You don't recognize that tattoo or the assassin herself in particular, but the next morning your thoughts immediately come up with Chelsea and Joshua Graham. Chelsea was a talented mechanic, electrician, technician, blacksmith...well, she was a talented everything. Joshua was a bigtime informant who had secrets that could possibly cripple the Sovereign Kingdom of Mirthholme if let out. If someone knew anything about sexy female assassins with strange tattoos who apparently aren't afraid of trying to take a living (or undead) legend like you out, then it'd be those twin prodigies. They still lived in Port City Marldukes, right? You, the Player Characters You're a living legend. Or an undead one, but I've said that already, right? Anyways, you either played a huge role in changing the world for the better, or saved the world from a seriously heinous force of darkness, bro'. Are you a hero(ine)? Not necessarily, no. You could've done it inadvertently, or maybe you did it just to piss somebody off. Regardless, you're one badass freakin' something-or-other, and you don't appreciate having your peaceful rest or easy reading or dark summoning rituals or ice cream socials interrupted by anyone, even a beautiful girl with a desire to see your blood split about your floor, walls, ceiling, and expensive furnishings. So, you're going to do something about that, and they'd better forget about praying because not even a god will save them once you get your hands on them. You could all know each other, but that isn't really required. In fact, the only real connection you all need is that you all happen to know Chelsea and Joshua Graham. What'm I forgetting? Oh, right, character sheets, character sheets...right, here it is: Name: for names, possibly titles, what you like to be called by people you choose to acknowledge. Age: how long you've lived in the lands governed by the Sovereign Kingdom of Mirthholme. Weapon(s): names and brief (or detailed, whatever) descriptions of your implements of pwning ye fuckin' newbs. Race: the kind of creature you are. Yes, there probably is such a thing as a legendary kobold or giant fly or slime. Battlefield Specialization: this requires some describing, but basically you're being asked to supply how you might be best deployed in a combat situation. Like, for example, you're great at healing? Or maybe you're really fast and agile and can get at someone's backside before they swing at the illusion of you they see in front of them? In other worlds, when in battle, you have strengths and you have weaknesses, and this entry block is where they go. Abilities: where you list stuff like techniques, spells, powers, and other things that you have. They should reflect your Battlefield Specialization, like if you were to say you were good at lightning magic, then your Abilities block should contain some fairly significant lightning elemental spells, eh? Appearance: describe yourself to just about any degree or supply a picture that you think describes you well. Personality: the way you behave and how you percieve people and how other may percieve you. Backstory: The world governed by the Sovereign Kingdom of Mirthholme is fairly open-ended, allowing for a ridiculous number of stories which summarize your history from birth. These backstories don't necessarily have to supply the reasons behind your personality quirks or the reasons why you look the way you do, but they really should, y'know? ----- Anyways, I think that should set you players right up with some good ideas on the characters you want to be. Please, ask questions, offer suggestions, and other stuff. If you're confused about filling out the character sheet, I'll produce sample sheets of Chelsea and Joshua Graham when I can get on the Internet next. Name: Adeze
Age: somewhere in her thirties. Weapon(s):A large custom made Scythe with an intricate handel design and a shapened outer edge, and a pair of daggers hidden within her robes. Race: Half-human half nymph Battlefield Specialization: I suppose the best clasification would be theif or rogue, maybe assassin her ability to teleport means she moves swiftly and strikes once, usually getting tired and being awkward in prolonged battles due to her weapon and build Abilities: Being half nymph she's inherited her mother's ability to"Move swiftly and invisibly on the air" she can teleport to anywhere within her line of sight, allowing her to set enemies up for a deadly swing of the scythe. Appearance: A thin, woman with cocoa skin and elvish features, She wears long robes with a low hanging hood that obscures her upper face. Her hair is shoulder length, cornrowed at the front and top and loose single braided in the back. Personality: Calm, friendly, but blunt. Backstory: Adeze was born as the only daugther of the lord of a far-off land Linyba that had fallen on hard times. He had went off traveling to acquire great riches to save his kingdom, only to find Hesperides a young woman who he felll madly in love with. He brought her home and tried to make a life with her, sadly, her presence, did litte to assuage the economic turmoil his kingdom experienced, and it was assimilated into the nation of Mirthholme. Shortly thereafter His wife bore him a child, a young girl who as soon as she could went out into the world, seeking something to return her home to it's former glory. In her travels she has had many adventures and saved the world at least once. She cheerfully and openely admits to looking for a means to overthrow the Mirthholme government, which frequently gets her into trouble.

Dose this mean that Terror In Testarot is considered as "permanently suspended"?
If so: Name: Thar Age: About 200. Race: Half-god(closer to 1/16 actually) Appearance: A twelve year old human male with short cut black hair and green eyes. He looks like all the actual human kids, so be careful not to lose him in a supermarket. Personality:Aside from knowing a lot of things you'd learn from the books, mentally he's still a kid. He keeps forgetting things, he likes being praised, has problems dealing with refusal, and certainly dose not understand what's the big deal with all the adult stuff. He has some sadistic tendencies when it comes to fighting(nothing to worry about, normal kids are sadists too, just in a different way). Weapon(s): None. Abilities: -Lightning magic: He can generate and, in a limited way, control high voltage. -Water magic: He makes water move and stop outside its regular container. -Child agility: Kids are like monkeys, they're hard to catch or hit, and can climb stuff you'd never expect being climbable. Battlefield Specialization: Sometimes he'll attempt to burn stuff with high voltage. Usually he'll make it wet earlier. Tends to stop water in forms of walls and huge bubbles if the enemy is too strong to fight or shouldn't be hurt. In a rare case something gets close enough for melee, Thar can create a sort of a plasma blade by separating the hydrogen with water magic and ionizing it with lightning. Backstory: Long ago a young god fell in love with a human woman... So did his son, and his son's son, and his son's son, and finally his son's son... And so we reach the the youngest in the line: Thar, who is too young to fall in a kind of love that'd cause him to have a son, but is certainly old enough to love exploring and adventures. So following his still young looking grandfathers advice, he spent the last 50 years traveling the world his mother lived in. Using his god powers, he kept helping the common people fight with all sorts of monsters and outlaws. In the assassin attack, an old man he was traveling with since he arrived in Mirthholme was badly injured. Since the old man was in no condition to travel, he was left in the tavern, and Thar was sent to Marldukes, to find people who might know what's going on. Premonitions and Naqel are approved.
As for the questions, I flopped big time on the story in Terror In Testarot. Next, the technology in time setting is what it's pretty much been for the majority of my RPGs, and bizarre blend of medievil mixed with technologically advanced, like Final Fantasy VI. |

Consider a spot reserved, if ya like.
I'm trying to cook up something between a siege machine and a heavy ranged weapons sniper...

This is what I have so far. I'll finish it later tonight.
Edit -- Alright finished it up. ----------------- Name: Alexander Vorenthall Age: 28 Race: Human Weapons: (All of his weapons are stored in his pocket dimensions [see ability section]) Two katanas that have been hardened through magical means. A steel longsword. Two steel daggers. About fifty throwing knives. Two semi-automatic pistols. Abilities: Pocket Dimensions/Dimensional Rifts: Alex has several pocket dimensions at his disposal wich he uses to carry weapons, items, rations, and other such things. He can access these dimensions by creating rifts in close proximity to his hands (the farthest distance he can create a rift is about three feet). When he removes an item from his pocket dimensions, all he has to do is concentrate on the item he wants and it will emerge from the rift he creates. Eagle Tattoo: Alex has a tattoo of an eagle on his back that was made from magically imbued ink. The tattoo increases his agility, speed, and reaction times to a point where it's like he was training from birth. Ambidextrous: Not so much an ability as it is a remarkable skill. Alex is equally skilled with both his right and left arms. Battlefield Specialization: Alex fights using his superior speed and reflexes to get the upper hand on his opponent. While he might not be the strongest fighter he makes up for it by attacking any oppening he can see with lightning speed. He also uses his pocket dimensions to switch weapons on the fly, forcing his opponent to stay on their toes. When forced to go on the defensive, Alex prefers to dodge and counter-attack physical blows. If he's under attack from a distance, he can open up rifts to "catch" projectiles launched at him, but this requires extremly precise timing. Appearance: Alex is tall and thin, but with well defined muscles. His dark hair is always in a buzz cut, and his eyes are a light green. He also has a tattoo on his upper back of an eagle. The eagle's head and body follow the length of his spine, with the wings spread out and stretching towards his shoulders. During the assassination he was wearing only underwear, but normally he prefers loose clothing that offers lots of mobility. Personality: Alex is, well to be blunt, a cocky jerk. He thinks he's the best damned thing to walk this world and the fact that he saved it once before only swelled his ego more. However, if you can put up with him for the time you're forced to spend together, you will find yourself a kind of decent friend. Backstory: Alex was born into a lower-nobility family that resided in a decent sized industrial town. The Vorenthalls ran the town's lumber industry and had many allies and enemies in various positions of power. The important thing is that none of that matters any more because Alex ran away at the age of six when he accidently discovered his ability and made his mother's favorite (and most expensive) vase disappear. Not wanting to suffer the consequences, he fled to a much smaller town that he had never heard of before, and only found it by chance. After wandering around this new town for two days, Alex met a man who offered him a place to stay. For ten years Alex worked with this man as a blacksmith, earning his keep and practicing how to wield the weapons he made. Then at the age of sixteen, he decided it would be best to head out into the world and learn knew things. What he didn't tell his adoptive father was that he wanted to find someone who could help him master his ability, since he was still having trouble controlling it. After four years of travelling from city to city and preforming odd jobs for whoever needed it, Alex stumbled across an old mage who recognized his talent. The mage agreed to help Alex, on the condition that he would let the mage test a new spell on him. Alex agreed and the mage fused the magical ink to Alex's back in the shape of an eagle ready to strike. After taking a few weeks to recover and get used to his new speed and reflexes, Alex began training under the mage. This continued for five years until Alex managed to master his ability, at which point the mage gave Alex two katanas that he promised would never break. Alex accepted the gift and set out into the world to refine his skills. Two years after that, Alex encountered something that threatened to destroy the world. At first he made nothing of it, just an old man rambling about nonsensical theories. He thought he could make some quick cash and then leave the old man to die, but it ended quite differently. It turned out that the old man's ramblings about a "living fire that would purge the world" was something that he was actually trying to create. When he found out about this, Alex tried to put a stop to the scientist's plans but he was too late. The Living Flame was born and destroyed the old scientist and his entire village before Alex risked his life to trap the Flame in one of his pocket dimensions. Needless to say he doesn't use that one anymore. After that Alex tried to settle down, and all was going well for about a year. That is until a female assassin tried to murder him in his sleep. After narrowly avoiding a fatal stab and putting a bullet in her arm, the assassin had fled, leaving Alex confused, pissed off, and slightly aroused. And now it's time he found some answers.

Ok, here we go. Quite cliched, greatly modeled off of Berserk, and probably still a little rough around the edges, but I'm just trying to have fun here.
Name: Asche Age: 59 Weapon(s): Demon Slayer- A huge sword that doesn’t have much of an edge, but can cleave things in two with its sheer weight. Considered by many to not be much more than just a large slab of iron with a hilt stuck on the end. (Shamelessly inspired by Berserk’s Dragon Slayer) A big ol’ knife- Because you’ve always gotta have a knife. Seriously. Race: Human, bonded to a demon… monster… thing Battlefield Specialization: Got a hoarde of mooks or just one oversized monster to deal with? Asche is your man. Asche has been fighting off monsters his whole life, so he’s good at getting rid of all sorts of things that could trouble others used to fighting mere people. He does lack any sort of ranged weapons, but makes up for it with sheer fighting prowess and an intimidating aura. Abilities: Pros: Sheer Brute Strength- Being able to lift the Demon Slayer, let alone wield it easily, is a feat in and of itself for a normal human. Asche, while under control of the thing bonded to him, can control the weapon with little trouble and can give it enough momentum to cut through a group of baddies with very little effort. When the demon’s out, though… well, let’s just say things may tend to splatter. Intimidation Aura- Being bonded to an otherworldly being tends to make the weaker willed things Asche fights rather scared, although not to the point of running away. This makes some things sitting targets for Demon Slayer to rip apart. Physical Resistance- Being part demon monster thing gives Asche quite the tough body. He’s able to take hits that would rip other people apart and keep on fighting despite that. But, despite that, he can be worn down. Force of Will- Ever since the bonding succeeded, Asche has had to have an incredible will just to keep himself human. This could also relate to his physical resistance, because he knows if he gives up for too long, his demon would come out and cause chaos everywhere. Fighting Skill- Fighting monsters for a living isn’t easy, especially if you’re human. And for as long as he’s been living, Asche has been fighting them. He’s picked up many a trick to the art of killing, and isn’t afraid to hold back. Demon Form/Berserker- Losing control does have its benefits. Increased strength and speed, the inability to feel pain, general unpredictability, even more intimidation than usual… it’s all good. Cons: Distraction/Instability- Keeping something sealed inside with just your own stubbornness isn’t easy, especially when it’s ALWAYS trying to get out. And you’re always fighting things. And you try and use it to your own benefits to fight said things. And doing all of that does tend to get in the way if you are trying to concentrate on keeping yourself in a human form while fighting and trying to harness power. Due to that, he doesn’t always LOOK human, despite the fact that he actually is. Mostly, anyway. Intimidation Aura- Being bonded to an otherworldly monster doesn’t exactly make you more attractive to the ladies, unlike some stories. In fact, most people are easily scared or paranoid just seeing Asche if he isn’t careful about controlling his form. Demon Form/Berserker: Well… read what that title is. No one should be around a berserker, really. Lest you LIKE getting splattered across… well, everything. This is a baaaaad thing for the home team, should it happen near them. Plus he’s ugly. Appearance: Human- A heavily muscled man, easily pushing past 6 feet tall and covered in scars of all sorts who looks to be in his mid-twenties. With short-cut black hair, tanned skin, and dark eyes, he only adds to his “dark and broody” image, although given provocation his eyes can start glowing red and his canines much more pronounced, only adding to his “dark and EEEEEVIL” image. He’s almost never seen without his scratched, nicked and worn dark gray plate armor that covers his chest, legs, boots, and upper arms, and wears a nifty black cape to finish off his image. He goes without a helmet or forearm guards due to habit. His sword is hung on his back and his knife on his belt, although people always ask how the huge sword stays there. They get the death stare for that. Demon- The demon in Asche could be described as the ultimate mix of predators given a four-legged form. Think a wolf mixed with any feline mixed with a shark and given more teeth. Of course, trying NOT to become that, the furthest Asche ever really goes is into a hunched over, feral, long-maned, long-toothed, almost armor plated, sword-slinging flurry of death. Yep, he’s ugly, but you probably won’t get much of a look at him before you’re dead anyway. Personality: Generally good-hearted, but wandering around fighting monsters while being treated like a monster can have a negative effect. Due to that, he is usually distant and cynical, but isn’t without a sense of humor for it. However, anyone who knows him can see past the cold side and see the good within him. Backstory: Asche began his life as an orphan, his parents killed while he was a baby by a stray monster that was being hunted down at all costs. His luck didn’t improve from there. Being taken in by the very hunters who had failed to kill the thing in time, Asche was raised to kill that which had essentially spun his life on its head. To Asche, though, it was normal. In fact, it hardly seemed farfetched. He was just good at what he did, and he did it with an oversized sword. In his mid-twenties, Asche, now working alone and well known for his abilities as a hunter (And his big-ass sword that is obviously not compensating for something), was called to take out a cult that was trying to summon a demon into the world. Unfortunately, that was just a ruse. The cult trapped Asche using their magic and used him as a host for a powerful predatory force from another world. They figured Asche’s strong body would be the most appropriate form for something so powerful, but they didn’t figure that the thing itself would just be a feral thing searching for blood. When Asche woke up, his head felt like it was going to rip open and he was surrounded by the remains of the cult members. And he could feel the thing inside him trying to claw its way out. It wasn’t a pretty feeling. Not long after, Asche found out what had happened to him, and also found out there were other sects of the cult all over the kingdom trying to summon similar forces of destruction. With sword in hand and a new thing to keep under control, Asche took nearly ten years out of his life to utterly destroy the cult before anything more horrendous than what was in him surfaced. And all without anyone but those deep into the occult knowing of the great victory that had been won. Now, twenty or so years after that victory, Asche continues to hunt down monsters for a living, although he now keeps his eyes on anything that might seem like it could be connected to that cult. His experiences have nearly driven him mad at times, but he has pushed on regardless, knowing the thing inside him isn’t something that should be let loose on the world. Yeesh did that ever get long on me. Oh well, on with the berserking! |
