I'm hoping for Lookouts! Fantasy Boy Scouts for the win!
... I hope the highest rank they can achieve is Level 1 Ranger.

Goddamn the internet fails at voting.
"Hey we could have boring-ass done-to-death robots mixed with boring-ass done-to-death noir, or we could have boring-ass done-to-death Tolkien mixed with boy scouts adventure comics which actually aren't done to death or boring and are actually pretty uncommon and the sort of thing there should be more of so doing one mixed with Tolkien would be pretty unique and rad. No, let's all vote for that one shitty fucking scene from every shitty fucking cop/mobster movie or TV show made in the last 40 years except this time it's different cause it's a robot."

As for Lookouts, it really seemed more like maybe a custom D&Dish fantasy job than straight up Tolkien to me? Not a dig at all, really, seems like there's more life in the former than the latter. The scouts thing does seems just downright unique. No comment on the Dark Magic one.

I don't think anyone liked the Jim Darkmagic one.
And yeah I'd swear I've seen this "beat cops push around the robot" scene before practically verbatim, but damned if I could tell you where.

After offering up Lookouts it seems incredibly cruel to then offer everything else.
I mean child ranger-training in the form of boy scouts, led by a one-eyed grizzled veteran. That tickles me in all the ways I want a story to be.

Lookouts? Great. Way great.
Automata? Concept isn't exactly new. Jim Darkmagic? This could be fun, but Lookouts would still be better. I noticed that the people who picked Lookouts were, apparently, much more vocal about it, at least seemed so, for the authors to comment on it. But it still got less votes. Dang. |

Well, to those of your who wanted Lookouts, remember
Quote:
I could be mistaken, but I think the creature referenced in the Lookouts was actually a cockatrice and not a basilisk. I picked Automata. Why? Persecuted robot detectives seems really cool. The Wandering God |

ok as much as I hate looking like the out of touch outsider to what is, perhaps sadly, considered my peer group. My curiosity overrides what little sense of pride I have. So I will ask
What exactly is this about because I typically keep up with penny arcade and am drawing a complete blank

I actually like the idea of Jim Darkmagic the most, but execution wise it's obvious they still have a few things to work out. As a result, I pretty much have to go with Automata, just because I love noir. (actually, it lost points for having a robot, but I hate boy scouts)
