The hadoken is the universes love. What he would be doing is letting the hate out of his heart....
This would be Black mage's Ultimate sacrifice since hate is basically all that he is. It would certainly explain Sarda's Memories of the future. because without the hate BM wouldn't want to destroy the world. and most likely the Anti-Hadoken would suck the hate out of Thief and Red mage as well....

Here's hoping that Thief's next bit of dialogue 3 comics from now is used to point out how Black Mage firing beams has never in any way succeeded in killing anything that the beam was initially aimed at ever. Except that one giant, but then, that was back when Brian was young and foolish.

How exactly do you wait until the next day for your spell to recharge, when you're in an alternate space-time continuum that doesn't have sunup or sundown?
