It's True. Microsoft is going after "malvertisers"

Everyone knows that Bill Gates is God and Satan. He has to do something good every now and then to make the horrible crimes against humanity (see: Windows Vista) more meaningful.

Funny Vista story: I've been getting used to it over the years now and I was actually kind of annoyed when I go back to computers using XP.
Adaptation and perspectives count for a lot. |

Yeah, Vista is mostly functional, and it does have some nice features. Now that I know my way around it, it's not too bad.
I STILL have issues with the dang hard drive knot knowing how much space it really has, though. Right now, it says 5.72GB, but that's after installing something and it telling me I had 7.-some-odd, and then doing a few other things which didn't amount to anywhere near 2GB worth of file action. Someday, I will get off my ass and see about trying to fix that. Edit: I just got an automatic update. It now says I have 4.37 left. It's incredibly frustrating. :shifty: Edit again: Let me just be clear that this problem is just me. It wasn't like this until I got rid of my mom's account with the "keep all the account's crap" option and then tried to manually delete the crap via the Recycle Bin. Most people with Vista never run into this issue. My mom hasn't on her computer and neither has anyone else I've talked to. Actually, it's probably just the current installation. It's the second one I've had on here and acted funny from the start, but the issues started out minor and still aren't aggravating enough for me to try a fresh install. I just want to be clear that Vista is overall a good system. On-topic edit: It's good to see someone finally attacking some of these. There are many more that need to be dealt with, but it's a start.

I mean, perspective and adaptation count for a lot, yes, but that doesn't change the fact that Vista is bloated and inefficient, which are really my biggest problems with it. I was able to spend a few hours looking up how and turning off annoying things like "Are you sure you want to do every little thing you want to do like playing games and shit?" and after that using it was absolutely no problem. It'd just be nice if I could keep WoW, AoC, Fallout 3, Guild Wars, DDO, a WAR trial, Sims 3, Deus Ex, Starwars Starfighter, Civ IV + expansions, my media files, Sims 2, and a few other games I'm probably forgetting while still having my hard drive space read as being in the green and not ever having to worry about it--where as I don't have room for even what I listed there with Vista--and had it all on my XP machine with a much smaller HD. At least not without plugging in that secondary hard drive that I've got laying around here somewhere. Also it's terribly inefficient. Most games you look at will either admit right on the specs that you should have an extra gig of ram if you're running vista or will mention it somewhere in text nearby. Not that this is a problem for either of us, being as we're running basically the same computer and it kicks ass. But still. It could kick MORE ass if Vista weren't eating it. I'll have seven soon, though, and that's suppose to use less space and have a smaller system footprint.

I actually have been learning a lot about Win7 in my hardware class. Basically, it's supposed to take all those processes you get with Vista and throw them out the window.
For those interested, these are the official system requirements for 7: http://windows.microsoft.com/systemrequirements . And an article from Tom's Hardware: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/win...e-rc,7701.html .

Yeah Vista would be a'ight if I could figure out why I have thirteen different instances of svchost.exe running and collectively taking up like 250k of ram.
...I dunno if I can really blame that one on Vista I install all kinds of ridiculous shit and then never pay attention to it again after that.
