BattyAsHell is reputed to be..repu..tational. Yes.
Default Think I found the influence for Sarda...

I'm reading through Neil Gaiman's "Book of Magic" now, and there's a part where a young Merlin tells the tale of his entire life to come, from his triumphs to his greatest failures. The main character asks why, if he knows all this, he can't simply do something else? And Merlin's reply basically amounts to any one of Sardas... "I must do as I will", and other ambiguous answers.

I don't know if Brian Clevinger read the series, but if this represents some of his influences, he has very good taste.

TimeSpaceMage will become famous soon enough. Eventually. Maybe.

That reminds me of "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court", where the main character replaced Merlin for the majority of the story by introducing inventions like the bicycle and (well) using science.

Yeah, since that's probably the only real source of wizards who give ambiguous answers.
Who speak in riddles, if you wi
ll.
I have another idea about the main influence:

I think the main influence is actually Batman. Sarda+Batman= Parents killed, Sarda+Batman= training a long time for revenge, Sarda+Batman= Unstoppable, it goes on... The similarities are uncanny.

In The Once and Future King, a significantly older book, Merlin lives his life completely backwards. The first time he meets Arthur he's very sad, because to him, it's the last time he'll ever see him.

I'm not saying that's the source either, I'm just saying that these kinds of plots aren't new in any way. Remember that "prophesies" started with the Bible or earlier.

"You can't do something you haven't yet done differently than how it will come to be done"?
