This is supposed to be the sequel to the Shadow Dragon (DS remake of Fire Emblem 1), if I remember correctly.
I certainly hope they do more with this one than Shadow Dragon, which, while a decent game in itself, was pretty plain as far as storyline and characters went. Still, I've read a little bit about 3, the story sounded a little more interesting. Not much competition really, but, it's something. Don't really know much about it beyond the premise though. Normally I'd just look it up, but if it's getting a remake, I'll spare myself the spoilers and just wait and see.

Well to be fair Shadow Dragon was a remake of a NES game. There wasn't much to start with honestly.

All Fire Emblems since 7 have been brought overseas. I doubt this will be the one to break the trend. It's interesting that they are skipping 2, however. Wait, no, the adjective is "sad". |

This is actually just a remake of Book 2 of FE3.
They might as well remake all of them, especially when overseas markets missed the first six titles. |

Probably their intention. I hope they don't dally too long before going to FE4.

Is it still modus operandi for them to go "story" "fight" "story" "fight" without anything like "side quest" or "walk around"? I hated that about one of the earlier Fire Emblem games, so much that I quit playing it altogether. I don't want to play a story, I want some freedom. Even FF Tactics had more freedom than whatever FE game that was.

Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones for the GBA tried to offer freedom. General consensus seems to be that the game sucked hardcore because of it. The game basically fell apart because if you used the sidequests, you tended to become WAY too strong for the main quest.
But besides that one, no there is little to no sidequesting/freeroaming to be had. Fire Emblem is on railroad tracks, and they'll be damned if they ever let you hop off the train again! |
