Anders Breivik Is Still A Horrible Monster

Last year, in Norway at Utoya, killed 69 children and teenagers.

Now he wants a medal for it:

Oslo, Feb 7 (ANI): Norwegian mass killer Anders Behring Breivik, who claimed the lives of 77 people in twin terror strikes in Oslo on July 22, 2011, told a court that he deserves a ‘medal of honor’ for the bloodshed.

Breivik, a 32-year-old right-wing extremist, reportedly smirked as he appeared in a Norwegian court for a scheduled detention hearing.

He was photographed with both arms raised, which according to his attorney was “some kind of right-wing extremist greeting.”

According to ABC News, Breivik then told the judge he should be released from custody and said he deserved the military medal for his work against his country’s ‘traitors’ in the fight against the ‘Islamic colonization of Norway.’

He claimed that the terror attacks were “preventative” moves and that he acted in cultural self-defense.

“Ethnic Norwegians will become the minority in 10 years in Oslo,” Breivik reportedly said.

Breivik had confessed to setting off a bomb that ripped through Oslo’s government district, killing eight people, and then opening fire at the summer camp of the governing Labor Party’s youth wing, killing another sixty-nine.

An initial psychiatric evaluation concluded Breivik was criminally insane, meaning he could not be held accountable for his actions, but following a storm of criticism the Oslo District Court appointed two new psychiatrists to provide a second opinion. (ANI)

I try to be a good person, and I try to see a silver lining in tragedies, as hard as it is sometimes (the silver lining here being the EMS services, Oslo police, Hege Dalen and Toril Hansen.) but I really can't think of any punishment bad enough for him..

Yep, he's still doing everything in his power to become a celebrity, fooling himself it's going to lend his wrongful ideals credibility while all he really wants is people to give him attention. The sad part is just that he doesn't get why you shouldn't kill people. Now, I wrote at the time about how to indoctrinate him into a human being:

I understand Anders Breivik. I encompass, in my mind and in my heart, all his hopes and fears and dreams and they are small and boring and wrong and I'm frustrated by my inability to talk to him and explain to him why he is wrong.

I fantasize about teleporting him to a small, locked room somewhere far away from all human jurisdictions. There I would talk to him. I would put out his eyes and break his legs and pull out his teeth and bind him to a bed, and then I would get mean. I would slap him ninety-two times in the face. Hard, painful slaps that don't leave marks. I would make him count, and I would start over when he lost count.

I would give him the names of his victims, one by one, and ask what he or she had done to him. And when he failed to give a good answer, I would slap him. I would slap him until I could no longer lift my arm, until he understood the crushing despair of absolute helplessness and powerlessness, until he could not stop crying, until he had no hope left.

And I would do this for each of his ninety-two victims.

And then I would do it all over again.

I would do these things and talk to him. I'd tell him of democracy. Of freedom and equality. Of the categorical imperative. Of the reality of other people and how you don't get to decide that you are worth a hundred thousand other people just because they are not you.

I would make him better. And if that failed I would kill him.

I think the only thing that has changed since then is his body count.

Backpedal edit: Or I guess the humane thing to do would be keeping him in isolated house arrest at some remote location for the rest of his life like I wanted to do with Bin Ladin. I guess I've been off my head about Breivik for some time. Thanks Fifth for snarking me straight!

Obviously it would be undemocratic to not allow Breivik to be as wrong as the day is long, a horrible reeking void of humanity, etc, if that's what he wants to be. I just thought for a while about how possibly to fill that essential lack of something that makes him think he wants to be who he is, and make him want to be better than that. And went really overboard with it. I'm sorry if I upset someone or something.

I might have done all that if I could back then, but now I know I wouldn't. And doesn't that make everything more Disney?

I wish journalists would just report what he says as "and then Breivik said some stupid bullshit not even worth reading, so we won't bother writing it down. Just be assured it was exactly what you'd expect a piece of shit like him to say."
