So, in the search of a third MMO to close my Trifecta... i finally came across Black Prophecy. Now, this one is right up my alley. Free, Space Battle Sci Fi MMO with good graphics and fun active gameplay.
That's totally my thing !! ![]() HOWEVER, even though information isn't all that clear about it... i hear it's region locked to the US and UK. So i can't play it. Ip Ban! Ok ok, i kinda understand why this is... if any of you guys plays free games online specially MMO's and Shooters then you probably know what a "BR" is. It's a thing, we're a thing... i can count from the top of my head 6 Online games where Region Locking was put in place BECAUSE of BR players, or that completely separate versions of the game were release to BR players. It's not pretty when it happens, and it happens. Mostly because it's a player base comprised of nonsensical moronic teens... even more so than on global scale it seems! So, Black Prophecy is Region locked. And as you might now... a Sci Fi Space Exploration / Fighting game is a rare breed. Of the Good ones there is Eve... and that's pretty much it. Hell, even that one is kinda debatable... and it's pay-to-play! Now look at this thing! I wanna play that! *pouts* At first i'm here to tell ya about this game, but i'm also here to make a Risque question, and i'm not sure if this is 100% ok in these forums, so let me ask... Anybody knows of a safe way i can bypass this Region Lock thing? |

If it's any consolation, I went to try it myself but am seriously put off by the level of... I guess 'professionalism' is how to describe it.
The forums link on their site 404s. Patching is a pain in the ass. It may not apply for versions prior to Windows 7, or other operating systems (not sure if this is a Windows only game), but pretty much every 10 seconds for about 30 minutes [exaggeration may apply] it had to ask for permission to modify the patcher, after downloading single file. It would patch, then download another file, then ask permission again. Would be nice if the beta client was a couple more versions up to date, or if it could "check ahead" based on the current version, and download all updates and apply them successively, rather than piecemeal. I finally get into the game and find out... I can't play anyway: Quote:
I wash my hands of this. I was keen to try a modern space-fighter sim, but this sort of thing rubs me the wrong way. It doesn't bode well for long term support. Maybe I'll forget about it and try again in a few months.
