WTF All right, this has gone far enough (The Grammar Nazi Topic)

Quit saying "wreck havoc". It is pronounced "wreak havoc".

I know, I know. Somebody fucked up a year ago on a major news network, or possibly during a debate, or maybe some political pundit decided to be all down-home and folksy for the viewers. Even I cannot remember the exact origin of this turn of phrase, though I have heard it more and more often on television as the months have passed by. I have turned a blind eye to this until now.

But you, sir, are an elected official. I should not be able to tune into C-SPAN and hear the phrase "wreck havoc" coming out of the mouth of an elected official. You, good sir, are not a fucktard, or at least I should hope you are not. Quit sounding like one. I can only assume you even went to college, despite your clamoring that college is the domain of the liberal elite.

Quit saying "wreck havoc". Immediately.

Ahem.

This is the Grammar Nazi topic. Within this topic is where we define the line. No peccadillo is off limits. No offense unworthy of disdain.

MY FRIENDS.

LAY DOWN THE GRAMMAR HAMMER!

My brain just did that.

Pretty sure I'm this forums biggest or one of its biggest offenders.

I'm not even bitching about the internet. I just know one of these days the president is going to pronounce "bathe" as "bath" on national television (SOMEHOW) and I'm going to have to commit suicide.

Like he will possibly even say "bath-ed" instead of "bathe-d". That's how bad it's going to be. The president is going to sound like the annoying overcorrecting white people at a dinner party. And it all begins here.

Two things really annoy me, even though I have been guilty of the former: "a whole 'nuther" and "should/would/could of".

"Fail" is a verb. Within one or two specific thematic context areas it can be a noun. That's its entire possible area of application and using it any other way, including ironically, makes you look both 3 years old and not very smart for your age.

I think you're the major "fail" user here, yes.
