Did a search and came up with zip. Do other npfers play board games? What kind?
I have several and was curious. I have Fortune and Glory A Touch of Evil flying frog games Resistance Pitt (I know that makes me like 1000) Zombicide Walking Dead Axis and Allies Betrayal in the house on the hill Descent Mansions of madness Munchkin Wrath of ashardalon Drizzt Zombie Dice Arkham Horror And I have recently started a couple Pathfinder D&D adventures. Show me the nerdy. What are some suggestions for new games?

Settlers of Catan are a basic staple to board games. Its an amazing game that just gets better with the seafarers and cities and castles expansions.
Quarriors, its a deck building game, except you use dice, so it is really a dice building game. Its got 3 expansions out as well, and the game is a load of fun. Do yourself a favor though and when you get the game, use the advanced rules provided in the Quarrmagedon expansion and found online, the base game is really simple and quick but with advance rules actual planning and such is needed. Castles of Burgundy is a game I picked up recently and I love it to death. You are a 17th century French Plantation owner, and everyone is trying to build the best plantation. Basically, 5 rounds of 5 turns you and buying, building, and creating the best planation, and at the end, whoever has the highest point count wins the game. Its a load of fun and quite a grand game. |

Lots from monopoly to Descent. I love my gaming in all forms. In fact I am current reigning champ of ZOMBIES!? in my area, won a copy of the game and everything.
Speaking of Descent I accidentally broke the game. My character had the highest fatigue and an ability to regain it, as well as telekinesis. This alone was fairly unbalanced since I more or less could manipulate board position as I saw fit. However what broke it was one of my allies had an ability that harmed anyone moving through an adjacent square. So I just had them rotate around her until they died. I killed freakin dragons this way. We called it "the cheese grater strategy"

Settlers (with and without expansions depending)
Carcassonne Axis and Allies Puerto Rico Ticket to Ride Cards Against Humanity Munchkin Bang! Dust Acquire These are the things usually played, and I included some card games 'cause they're kind of the same thing. I have gotten a few Monopoly games in at random times, but it's not so popular. OH I also have been able to get Uno! in easily, especially since it makes for a terrific drinking game. Some of us used to get together to play Descent and Arkham Horror and House on Haunted Hill, but the person who had those games defended his PhD and got a job and moved away.

Board games rule.
Board games + alcohol/weed/soda/poison of your choice + a few friends = better than video games 99% of the time. I've got: Arkham Horror + every expansion Risk Twilight Imperium + every expansion Settlers of Catan + expansions Smallworld Power Grid Ticket to Ride Pandemic Mansions of Madness Republic of Rome Agricola Talisman Carcassonne Game of Thrones Lifeboat Probably forgetting others, there's just...so...many... My all-time favourite is Arkham Horror. Co-operative, beautiful atmosphere, surprisingly well balanced considering the scope of the game. Twilight Imperium has a special place in my heart (hey it was basically my only LP here!) but damn it's such a long game, it doesn't get much use because we don't usually have six people with 12 hours to spare. Game of Thrones gets a special mention because it might seem dubious due to being a marketing ploy, but it can actually be quite good. It's fantastic IF the players around the table really play like people in GoT act. If everybody turtles and plays passively, it is pretty boring. I guess that's a flaw, but when it's awesome, it's awesome. |

Risk is a horrible game.
List of boardgames I got: Ascension(along with RotF and SoS) Mage Knight(a handful of my friends like to play this instead of D&D) Ticket to Ride Carcassonne A Few Acres of Snow I'm seriously thinking about getting Eclipse as an alternative to Mage Knight to spruce things up. Both games take quite a bit of time to play:o Though I also need to pick up the Mage Knight expansion>.< You can probably see that I just like deck building games(well carc and ticket arent, but that was for the gf). We have a bunch of the generic board games, but these are the ones we play the most. |

Risk legacy was a recent pickup. Its way better than the original.
If you haven't tried it it rules. Azisien has it totally correct, nothing beats buddies n boards. Is there a Pathfinder thread? Do you npfers dnd?

Cards Against Humanity is superior. Non-snark answer: It's a raunchier, more amusing Apples to Apples. edit: Also Risk is inferior to Axis and Allies :P And Arkham Horror usually ends up being boring as shit.
