Disney Infinity, or "I'm an adult; I buy toys to go with my video games."

My sister is interning with a branch of Disney Interactive this year (and DAMN do they treat their employees well! Catered meals every day, a room full of free snacks, and she makes more money as an intern than I do in my full time job), and as a perk she gets a massive discount on Disney Infinity and its accessories between now and October. (Damn, the only perks I get at my office is free terrible coffee and a slim chance at getting ONE nationally-recognized holiday off per year, so I can choose whether I'd rather work till midnight on Christmas, Thanksgiving or New Years.)

I've looked at a few Let's Plays and it looks cute, but kinda easy. Granted, games don't have to be hard to be fun, but my sister and I would probably be playing exclusively in co-op. Does anyone have any experience with the game? Opinions? Tips? Is it worth grabbing for 50% off? Anyone know how multiplayer is/works? I assume we'd need to buy additional Pirates/Monsters/Incredibles figures in order to play together, as I don't think you can bring characters into playsets other than their own. (That's not very infinite, Disney!)
