Default A couple of PS2 questions

A few of you might know that I've been saving up for a PS2 for quite a while. Well, I finally got one and I have a few questions. First off, I know that it can play PS1 games, but can I save those games on a ps2 memory card (if it can't, then no Final fantasy 4-9 (excluding 8)? Secondly, what are some top notch games under (or around) $30? And finally, I've heard that some internet providers charge a small fee to play the PS2 online. How do I know if mine does?

1) You can't save PS1 games on a PS2 memory card, but you can use a PS1 memory card in a PS2, so I don't see why you can't play FF 4-9.

2) Kingdom Hearts.

3) No idea.

okay here we go:

1. You can buy a special memory card for ps2 that allows you to save psx games to it. (you can't use psx memory cars in your ps2)

2. Kingdom Hearts

3. You need to buy the internet set up thing for it...and they charge you monthly

You can use PSX memory cards in your PS2. I do it all the time.

1. You can use ps1 cards

2. Kingdom hearts and splinter cell

3. You have to buy the network adapter and the monthly price depends on the game.

Wait, wait wait, let's straighten up the Playstation internet stuff here.

Okay: Unlike Xbox Live, there is NO monthly charge to use games online on the Playstation. All you NEED to pay for is the network adaptor. Now, the majority of online games are FREE online. This excludes MMORPGs (Final Fantasy XI, Everquest Online Adventures). Besides those couple examples, no PS2 games to my knowledge charge a monthly fee to play.

Also, I've never heard of an ISP (internet service provider) charging extra to have your console hooked up. The only way I could see them charging you anything is if a.) you need to put a new phone or cable line in close to the PS2 or b.) you need to buy a router to have the PS2 hooked up along with your computer. There should be no extra monthly fee, and if there is, something is up.

Well I do have to use a router, but I guess I'll just ask the isp. I allready have a network adapter (came with the PS2 ). And I never had a PS1 which means that I'll have to spend more money (which I don't have, I'm only 14 and my parents don't buy me things other than what they deem "essential"). And I allready had Kingdom Hearts in mind (it was half the reason I bought the ps2). Any thing else?

I don't like used games because they sometimes don't come in great condition. Plus they don't give me that warm fuzzy feeling that I get when I buy a brand new game that I know is and allways will be mine. Besides, it's only around two or three dollars.

First of all, for $10 you can get a magazine subscription and save 10% on all used games at either Electronics Beautique or Gamestop (I used to work for Gamestop). Both mags are good, and sometimes you can find games in perfect condition used, especially if they are overloaded in stock (like GTA).

Also, I had no idea you were 14. You usually sound at least 16.
