This is an Alien V.S. Preadator thread for reviews of the movie. Post your opinions of it here.
Note: Spoilers are going to follow, so if you want to see the movie, be careful what you read. Personally, i thought it was pretty good. They seem to be linking the movie to the old ones to answer some questions in the old movies. The fact that a predator worked with a human was pretty cool. I liked how they ballanced things with 3 predators agenst 10+ aliens. But, one alien took out 2 of the preds, they must have been rookies as far as predators go. Calling It a war didnt sound quite right. It was more of a very very important hunt. Over all good movie. They left it open for a sequal! Ex Theory: Ship that predators are in at end is the ship with all of the eggs in it in "Alien".

The Yuat-ja (Predator) rite of passage is hunting down "hard meat" aka xenomorphs aka aliens. So they were basicly teenager predators.
And no, no, NO! I hate you, I hate you whoever wrote that. That completely demystifies teh great Space Jockey part of Alien. That can't be right, thats not canon. The Space Jockeys created the Xenomorphs, they are an ancient race that destroyed themselves pretty much via the Xenomorphs. Thats a Space Jockey ship, definately NOT a predator ship. Plus, this isn't a prequel, I thought it was a sequel. So the theory is wrong. Unless by Ex Theory you mean proven wrong. I may be wrong about the sequel thing, I haven't seen it, but so far this hasn't spoiled much.

And that was just MY theory, just a thought. It could easily be wrong, but i like to look for connections in movies. But, if you saw the end of the movie, you would know where i got the theory and what the sequal option is. There be an alien in the predator they take back on their ship.

Ah, sorry about that, I don't much about the new movie, but I'm still looking foward to it. When I see it soon, I'll give my review.

Didn't see the movie (yett) read the book. I still consider myself justified to review although I may mention parts that were ommited.
The thing, I didn't like was that they proclaimed it as a war too much in the trailers and it turns out to just be a proving grounds type of thing. The fact that the predators breed the aliens in order to prove themselves was a startling revelation. To comment on why the one alien beat two predators, it was the Alpha Alien (not queen but the head of the pack) and the Predators did not have their major weapons (the shoulder cannon and what not.) |

Yes, I believe normally a yaut-ja is supposed to use only his wrist blades in some of these hunts, at least some do, probally not during the rite of passage. I found it very interesting myself.

I saw it. I liked it even. I was expecting a stupid-ass redneck movie and got a half-decent sci-fi flick. I am thoroughly pleased. They did a good job of building on the previous movies, without any obvious errors regarding canon. (Unlike Alien: Ressurection...grrr) My only complaint is that they might as well have added blood and guts and made it R. That's kind of an important part of both Predator and Alien.
Still, definitely a geek "must-see"

I thought it was ok. I've never seen neither the Alien nor the Predator movies (I'd like to see Predator, but fuck Alien and its facehuggers). The part with the predator making the girl a weapon was stupid. The predator's jump/slash at the very end was neato.
I give it a solid "Meh"

I was very much suprised at this movie. i've been pumping myself up for a two hour long suck fest, but the movie just failed to deliver that.
the first half of the movie is fantastic. the switches between the humans, aliens, and preditors did a great job of showing what was going on. obviously the director played the games (or at least saw them), as the preditor's tracking system and the vision modes were very cool to see in action. the second half though, i didn't like so much. the battle with the queen alien reminded me too much of the T-rex in Jurassic Park; and i too didn't dig the whole alien-husk weapons. also, special note to anyone who wants to make an action movie: you can't outrun a nuclear explosion. i don't care how fast your bobsled moves, you just cant do it. and finaly, i think they could have stood to cut out alot of that exposition in the middle of the movie. it just seemed to slow things down and state the glaringly obvious; actualy, i think there could have been alot less of the humans all together (seeing as the movie was called "AvP"). so, i give it a "Not as bad as you'd think" overall.
