The main problem with the Wii, as I see it, is that it has a new control system that most other developers don't know how to use properly yet, meaning that their shallow attempts to make it work hurt otherwise good games. Additionally, since the Wii isn't HD, it's cheaper to make games for it, so you get a lot of third party companies making shovelware because even if it sells poorly, they'll still make a profit, especially given that a lot of Wii owners aren't always as informed about what games are good or not. They also aren't as experienced with games and thus aren't as picky. The problems with the Wii have very little to do with the Wii itself or Nintendo.
EDIT: Oh, right, I guess I'm still pretty pissed about how much the controllers cost all in all, but other than that...

It's too bland now. It's too lame now. It's too cliche now. It's too boring now. Where are the video games for people who want to play something deep, difficult and INVENTIVE? |

"Difficult" is a silly ground to build something that is supposed to turn a profit "Inventive" is subjective. Zack And Wiki was Difficult, was Inventive and it didn't sold. Disaster: Day of Crisis was Deep and Inventive and it didn't sold. Tales of Symphonia 2 and Tales of Graces (i've played): are both of manageable Difficulty and deep and sold not as much as desired. Mario Galaxy could be Difficult, and it's inventive. If i go to my own personal choices, Gundam Wars and Fire Emblem are both hard as FUCK, inventive enough and deep. "Deep difficult and inventive" by themselves don't mean a damn thing... Point being that the Wii is a commercial success and, sadly, for gamers the intake of simplistic and entry-level titles is much larger than that of games that engage you for months on end. Some of us like games but simply don't have the time or the simple desire to seek our teeths for hundreds of hours in a game just to beat it because it's "Oh so fucking difficult". Even the top sellers in the 360 and PS3 are games that got mixed feelings and range around simplistic and over beaten tactics and gameplay mechanics but survive on a cinematic experience and stunning visual display. Sadly, the Wii can produce games of the same caliber than God of War 2, Final Fantasy XII and Devil May Cry 3, but rarely a producer wants to put that kind of money and time in there. I was never a huge fan of the Wii at first, and i still own mine here. And i have a collection of over 100 games for it, and these are games i PLAY, there were games i didn't like and i simply give it away or return it (it's easier since they are mostly free) so, over time i come to learn that the meat of the Wii is not trully known by many. I don't want to get rid of the thing now, it's fun, it's light and i can engage in complex gameplay whenever the hell i want. Maybe today i'll clear one mission on Modern Warfare Reflex before going to bed... or maybe i'll clear one more mission on Tony Hawk Proving Grounds. But maybe i want to beat one more opponent on Bakugan, or maybe level up my Gundam a little bit further or give that one hard quest o Valhalla Knights another Shot. Or maybe i just want to build a new house in My Sims, or play around a bit in Mario Kart or Tatsunoko Vs Capcom. Hell... sometimes i put in some Endless Ocean and go swimming with my Dolphin. Just as much as i can play on match with my team on Pro Evolution Soccer or practice my swing in Tiger Woods 10. The Wii has a TON of good AND great games. And it's a shame most people don't know it. Sadly not everyone has a chance to try as many gamas as i had the chance to, and i wish they could. It would change their vision. It certainly changed mine. I still think that the Wiimotion Plus is a lame ripoff cashcow. I still think the Online system of the Wii is a joke (thus why my console is not hooked up) and i still think the developers could sink their teeth a little further into the game and develop amazing things. But it's FAR from a Failure or a "Lessen Console". Also, from what i saw around this "Zii" thing was just a Trademark Nintendo filled to fight another Asian trademark that was aiming at that. And with the Motionplus still in it's infancy and the whole "Vitality sensor" they want to push around... i would say Nintendo has at least 1 more year ahead before they even announce a new console |

To be fair, it's not like this thread had much of a chance of this not happening eventually.

Trying to get the thread back on track: I'm kind of curious if they're going to go for 3D technology beyond wearing stupid paper glasses. I mean, I don't really know how they'd do that, but it'd be neat. Of course, for all we know, it'll be the WiiHD, but with a $200 force-feedback bodysuit.
