The ancient powers are never shy about handing out such rewards. It costs them nothing and pitiful normals are often able to be made loyal for life with such meaningless symbolism such as medals, flags, awards, etc.

I mean, mind control, psychoactive drugs, and hexes help as well, but often loyalty can be bought with some shiny worthless tin.

Plato was an alien! Oh wait!
I'm short on time because They are coming to silence me, but Plato was a virus!

And by virus I mean a guy with shades in black leather inside a computer simulation.

God, you people. Why do you think the Governments don't silence you when you bring up all this talk about Aliens? It's because you're looking in the wrong direction!

The government has obviously encountered the Mole Men and are now using their technology to build the new energy race! Why would any but a cave dwelling species come up with the idea to charge batteries via sunlight?

I only hope that many people read this before the secret agent mole men sneak in, kill me, and delete this post.

Well, think. Space is cold. Meterorites come from space. The most meterorites are found in Antartica. Antartica is cold. The military is there, conducting operations.

Obviously, the meterorites are rock monsters that want to turn Earth into an iceball, and the militaries are fighting back, trying to keep the Earth warm. That's why the seasons have been getting more and more extreme.

Aliens will not attack us as long as we keep Joss Whedon alive, as they are fans of Joss Whedon, whom I suspect may himself be an Alien.

I object to your theory on the grounds that space is not cold. :I
