Given the huge landslide for republicans in the last Senate/House election, I'm not so sure. Now, the congressional elections were unfortunate in their timing, as the Healthcare Reform Laws were just being enacted and brought a whole bunch of problems with them, which translated to ire against Democrats. Luckily, the presidential election is far enough away from that to have left the public's memory somewhat. Still, even if Trump gets the nomination it will be a close election, with some people voting Republican just becauseas Aero mentioned, they blame the nation's problems on the current administration.

However, Trump will have a hard time earning the youth voters, minorities, women, and liberal-leaning independent voters.

And all of this is only relevant if he actually wins the primaries.

AND keep in mind NONE of us can say for sure what will happen until 2016.

Default Not that it matters...

I think the only Republican that has a chance at the nomination for a GOP front runner (as long as he does not let the Party's idiocy railroad him into doing what they want) is Jeb Bush. Beyond that? The rest of the GOP is one giant Clown Car of fun. Hell, Scott Walker just threw his hat into the ring.

As to winning the Presidential Seat...yeah the GOP will really need to clean house and change it's message and so far...that is not happening. There is a lot of dissatisfaction with Obama's time in office but that is somewhat not his fault. The GOP has spent the better part of his entire time in Office trying to obstruct him on everything, even if it would help the freaking nation and us citizens. Add in their rhetoric on GLBT rights?

Yeah, we are heading for a repeat of 2012 possibly. Just need the Republican frontrunners to stupidly stay in their Lala-land and the Democrats to not grab the idiot ball.

You mean the election with the lowest turnout since WWII?

I'm less concerned.
