No. Human, Dwarf, Elf, Half-Elf, Half-Orc, Gnome, Halfling are the core races. You can also pick a race and be a "subrace," but it doesn't affect your stats.
And NWN's time in the sun is certainly over and done, but there are still a multitude of PWs running, including mine. The most fun I had in the game was making characters. There's just so much you can do and so many fun builds to try out. I didn't like the single player too much, but I've probably clocked over 3000 hours into NWN, so you don't even need to ask ME if it's worth $45. ![]() NWN2 is definitely less spectacular. It's got a nice graphics engine and the rule conversion is decent, but not ideal. The new class, warlock, is pretty cool, and the new (sub)races are nice as well. The single player campaign is WAY more interesting than NWN, with full-fledged cutscenes and D&D hilarity. But it takes a mean machine of a PC to run well, and the online aspect is quite poor. Still, Obsidian (makers) are working pretty hard to improve the game. It was rushed. |

I am totally and completely cool if NWN2 has more flavor of Baldur's Gate than Neverwinter Nights.
Because I totally didn't give a shit about Aribeth, and Minsc and Edwin made me laugh extremely hard. My vote for personal favorite has been cast.

Would that be the Diamond edition? There are more premium modules than the three included with that, plus of course the tons of user-created content. If you find something you like, you can spend months if not years on it.
Character creation is decent; little ways of customizing, but it's sufficient for the game. Replay value depends on what module you're playing. The original campaign you'll probably play only once, but the expansions have quite a lot to offer for characters of different alignments or classes. |

NWN2 has many more races(all elven and dwarven sub-races, and planetouched) and a couple extra prestige classes, NWN2 take an enormously powerful PC to run though, so unless your new computer has Duo-Core and an Nvidia 8800 GTX you probably won't get it to run on high. NWN
Diamond, which is what I suppose you are looking at, has NWN, Shadows of Undrentide, Hordes of the Underdark, and Kingmaker, which is the module creator. I spent a lot of time just making lvl 15 characters in HotU and exporting them to the main game. |

Little correction: Kingmaker's a module (in the Diamond edition it's actually a collection of three modules), the module creator / toolset already comes with the game.

Oh, well I didn't know that. Anyway, I got Diamond for $20, if it's $50 it must be
at Radio Shack or something. |
