You know, if Nintendo really loved us? They'd take Starfox - and then make it like Battlestar Galactica.
Tell me you don't have half a hard-on at the thought of that. Go on ahead and tell me a lie.

I don't just like Star Fox, I like the flying-sim genre as a whole, I just don't think that flight combat potential has been tapped in a while. The best flight games are the ones for PC that use a joystick, it's just like flying a plane, and for me theres nothing like a backflip-barrel roll to get a drafter in your sights.

The only one I've really played is Star Fox for the SNES which is still a great game after all these years. I really should upgrade to Star Fox 64, especially at this point in time.
Most people aren't very big fans of Assault and Command it seems. I've played the demo of Assault and it did seem a little strange to play, but I can't put my finger exactly on why... The reason Star Fox Adventures is so completely different from any former Star Fox game is it was entirely developed as an original title called Dino Planet and some of the godless executives upstairs at Rare said "Hey, I know, instead of taking the risk with a new franchise, we'll just slap a Star Fox title on it and work Star Fox into it!" The reason it was so easy is the two main characters were foxes, the male used a sword and the female used the staff they decided to have Star Fox use in the new improved XTREME version. |

Adventures was about as crappy as Shadow the Hedgehog, mostly because you couldn't see anything.

Well, yeah, it sucked, too, but at least it was XTREME about it. What was really amazing was how easy they transferred all the plot and gameplay from the original into a Star Fox game. It must have been easy as pie. In Dino Planet, the villains were evil raptors. Well guess what Star Fox fights in his games?! Humanoid lizards! Damn they had it easy on that XTREMIFICATION.

Sounds like they just changed the title and character models.

See, the "shoot" button is really big, the "bomb" button is really tiny, the brakes appear on the right shoulder button, the left shoulder button serves 2 purposes (sharp turn and barrel roll)... the list goes on. The game would have worked a lot better on N64, or at least with a different control scheme. Also, since you could return to levels you had beaten, they got rid of the way you could, y'know, keep the powerups you got in levels past. So you were stuck with crappy single lasers for most of the game, and bombs were few and far between. Plus, for most of the game you weren't even in a ship - you were on foot. And don't get me started on the default controls for that. I think that people had a hard time getting used to the big change in playing style for Command. There was a LOT more emphasis on stunts like barrel rolls, and you had to memorize which ship had which stats because everyone now has their own unique configuration. Also... well, the game was too easy. Except for when you could lose all of your progress in an area instantly with one misstep, like in the missile tracking missions. You had to win perfectly or not at all, and that was sometimes hard to deal with.

Starfox was the shit, but what was up with Slippy? I mean, if I were Fox, I would've fired that douchebag years ago. Is there ever a point where he does something other than force you to rescue him from some suckwad?
