Half Life itself allows you to shoot huge-ass monsters.

What's with the hatred for the huge monsters? Just cause they're different from you and may, or may not be morbidly obese is no reason to shoot them. If you wanna kill ugly things, kill horde! ...or tau? Yes, tau is good too.

System Shock.
Yeah, it doesn't have huge reptilian monsters, but come on, it's System Shock.

And the sequel has Rumblers, which are not reptilian but are large and intimidating.

While on talk about HL2, I set the res too high, adn have a black screen. reinstalling wont help, what do I do?

There's probably a way to change it in the config files, but I don't know it.
I do, however, know this somewhat less elegant solution:
- open Steam
- right-click HL2 and select Properties
- click "Set Launch Options..."
- enter "-width 800 -height 600" (without quotes) and click "OK"
(if 800x600 isn't a valid resolution for your monitor, use 640x480 or 1024x768 or something else that is)
- click "Close"
- start HL2 and select a new resolution from the config menu
- quit HL, right-click it, Properties, Launch Options, clear the box (your new setting is now in the config files and you don't want to override it each time you start it), OK, Close
