Picture 28 days later meets castaway, that's about as plain as I can put it.

I went into the theatre looking for some good B movie action, with a well-written plot. I was not disappointed, although most of the audience was. The ending is rushed, oh well that's just what happens when you try to turn a 400 page novel into a two hour movie- cry me a river.

Smith plays the lead role pretty well, though I think the director tried harder to form him around Smith rather than the other way around. Altogether it is a great movie, I really loved the scene with the trap (second one).

Spoilers: He isn't the last man on Earth, there is a colony in Vermont (I think).
The Vampire things are intelligent, and in my opinion more similar to humans than you may think.
He sacrifices himself...shit.

I didn't think it was a bad movie. The first 2/3 thirds were awesome.

It's just that two saps that I wasn't emotionally attached to at all survived and were the basis for the ending, an ending that didn't even feel right with the rest of the movie.

It all went wrong for me with the lady and the boy. I don't like the ending - ultimately, everybody else gets the happy ending but not the two characters who we've been most attached to, the ones who deserve the happy ending.

I don't understand why people (Americans, mainly) get pissed off when an ending isn't happy.

ArlanKels will become famous soon enough. Eventually. Maybe.

Narcissist, the ending probably didn't feel right because it went in the complete opposite direction of how the book itself went.

The writers tried to "hollywood" it, and should've just left it as is.

The thing is: How the hell would a cure be necessary? Once the people were cured, and that in itself is a stretch; I mean how the hell are they going to find a way to mass produce the cure in that little ahmish town they call a colony? There are 600 million of those things running around, and somewhere around what-20,000 maybe fewer in the colony? Then, when all the vampires are cured, what next? Re-education of a population 3,000,000 times the size of your own? Then, if you consider the line about the virus being 'elegant' I have to wonder how long the cure would even last before the virus adapted to combat it. The entire ending is ridiculous and leaves anyone with a brain utterly pissed off.

I really enjoyed this movie, and thought Smith and Sam did a good job with it.

And Frost? Don't get so hung up on the technicalities. Enjoy the movie for what it is.

That's the thing, this movie was intended for entertainment. And it surely was entertaining.

Sorry for the whine-a-thon, but I wanted to get the things I disapproved of about the movie out there. The movie was not as good as it could have been, I thought the end of the movie was very badly done.

If you can sit through the movie a second time without contemplating the same points I brought up, I will be thoroughly suprised.

THREAD NECROMANCY GO!

Sorry, wasn't able to get out with the GF to go see it until yesterday.

I liked the film. At least, the first 2/3rds of it.

Apparently, the original cut of the film had an ending a lot more true to the book, but it was apparently cut and the abomination that we got itself was refilmed. Some of the threads leading to that ending, such as the apparent 'leader' Darkseeker and his obvious intelligence, are remnant signs of where the movie was originally headed. Totally going to buy the DVD in the hopes of having the original.
