So, remember where I said I was going to play Way of the Samurai 2 again?
I lied. Have no access to my PS2, due to the fact that I am the Atlantic Ocean and then probably a third of a continent separated from it. In other news, holy shit. If Way of the Samurai 3 ever gets to Europe, I may need to buy a PS3.

Heh, started playing Zelda: Majora's Mask again. Trying to nab all the masks this time (never got the Fierce Deity before, and I must experience its awesomeness) but Anju and Kafei's whole ordeal is a pain in the ass. I've had to redo the whole fugging quest line about three times already (fucked up on the Ikana Canyon bit twice) and I'm going to need more time to pull the Postman's Hat off this time: last time I just nabbed the bottle full of Chateau Romani and ran off. Already went and did all the extra crap for the largest quiver, biggest bomb bag, and giant's wallet... I'm thinking that I will probably have to go fairy hunting now (need to do the Snowhead Temple fairies, Water Temple fairies, and the Stone Tower fairies... I hate hunting them down, it's a lot of work and I'm lazy).
Haven't touched A Link To The Past in a while... but I beat that game 100% a year or so ago... Don't think I need to go back to it again. |

Alright, Dark Cloud.
*Georama, still fun. *Translation actually seems worse than I remember, I think I have less tolerance for a bad job now that they're less common. * GOD DAMN THE LEVELLING SYSTEM * Combat still okay. Even if some characters are unbalanced. * Ending still seems silly. Might continue onto Dark Cloud 2 or Rogue Galaxy from here, not sure.

I started playing Champions of Norath again, I realized that some of the features were just bullshit.
First off nobody plays this game anymore and you can't play it online. The dungeon generator is fake, I've seen these dungeons a billion times. And the character creation is just a bunch of bull pocky. I think I loved Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance 2 WAY more!

Though it's not old at all, replaying Mass Effect on Insanity with a new character! And given that I am rusty after not playing for a while, I am fucked.

Though I'd suggest not deciding, "Hey, I don't have the achievement for Kaiden yet, NOW would be a good time to play the entire game with him. While on insanity." I mean, don't get me wrong, it was still fun, but Christ Kaiden sucks.

And Kaiden? That guy was dying every single time I encountered anything remotely hostile on my first playthrough, set to Casual. I haven't used him since. |

Well, I'm not sure if this counts, but I've decided to go to my game library and beat some of my many PS2 games. Currently the most recent beatings have been, in chronological order of winning (Plus Mini-reviews):
24: The game [ps2]: Underrated game overall. Quite fun shooting and puzzle levels, a decent stealth mission and abysmal driving. The driving was only abysmal for the first half though, as after the earthquake destroys LA the driving becomes quite interesting due to the drastic change in environment. My favourite part: Mission in which you locate snipers with a satellite, followed immediately with Jack on the rooftop taking out the snipers you just discovered. Best two missions in the game. Okami [ps2]: Loved it. Not just saying that cause otherwise I'd be lynched. :P I liked how there were like 3 fake final bosses. You think after killing Orochi that the game is short, but there is another foe. Then you think you've beaten it after killing the Kyuubiand yet another thing occurs until Yami is killed and the game finally ends. ![]() Syberia [ps2]: Decent adventure game, horrible lip synching. Really stands out in the opera scene near the end, as it does close ups of the singer and it's obvious shes completely out. Portal [xbox360]: Good all round, rather short, love GlaDOS, Cake is a lie... etc... Haunted Mansion [ps2]: Decent comedy horror game, based more on the ride than the movie. Good puzzle rooms, and absolutely no block puzzles! Too easy though... EOE: Eve of Extinction [ps2]: Spoilers are in the title, too short but still fun to play. Currrently playing Obscure, just saved after getting the Library Key. I'll need to change my party as I've no healing items and (Seth?) the Journalist and Ashley the Martial Artist are in bad shape... Enjoying it so far. |

Okay, an update on Evil Zone, now that I've beaten story mode with every character (on easy).
Character balance shows a surprising amount of disparity. I know a lot of it is about play style, and blah, blah, but no, seriously, some of the characters just have a higher damage output than others. Gally's super attack does, as far as I can tell, the most damage out of any super in the game by default. Also, it's a blessing that Kakurine sports an AI that focuses more on being annoying than kicking your ass, because she has a surprisingly high damage output and can easily keep a foe at a distance and kick their butt from there. Also, Ihadurca makes the game pathetically easy. Beside that, there's really no good reason to take your battle melee, even with the characters you'd think would be good for it. Chances are that you'll just open yourself up to point-blank attacks that you can't block unless you're psychic. It's overall better to stay in middle or far range and pummel them with your special attacks and capture moves. And God help you if you manage to get pushed back against the wall, because you're liable to get juggled. Overall, it's not a bad game for a guy who sucks at kickers. Some of the dialogue is laughable (Gally: "Little girl, are you lost?" Kakurine: "I think so... Yes!" Gally: "Aww! Too bad NOBODY BELIEVES YOU!" *fight*), but that actually adds a bit of entertainment to it. The VAs actually aren't a bad cast, just hampered by poor sound mixing and bad sound quality in battle. Aside from that, it's riddled with Engrish spelling errors, but while some things are grossly underexplained in the unlockables per character (some attacks are named and then only given a curt history, leaving it to the player to figure out which is which by playing all three costumes in hopes of them shouting the proper attack name), things are kept surprisingly consistent when info overlaps. My only real complaint is that to unlock more stuff, you need to go through more modes of the game, rather than actually having to get better at it. Once you beat story mode on easy with every character, there's no real reason to do it on a harder difficulty. First, you'll get spanked all that much more and second, there's no difference in the stories and nothing more unlocked by doing so. No, to unlock more of the stuff, you have to put a surprising amount of work into 1P Battle mode. Most of it will be to unlock all the poses for each character in the selection screen and voice clips. From what I was reading on a shrine site, there's also absolutely nothing unlocked by Survival mode, which seems completely backwards. You can unlock poses in 1 and 2P Battle, voice clips in 1P, costumes and encyclopedia entries in Story, plus other things AGAIN in 1P, PLUS a congrats from all the characters when you've unlocked it all, but the one mode that actually would present a challenge is the one mode with no unlockables or reward past the normal scoreboard. Obviously, I haven't gotten the congrats yet, and would never get it if I needed to play Survival for any real length, but it just strikes me as strange.

I had a copy of Evil Zone years ago. I loved it but the character data for one character was corrupted, so the game was unbeatable. In any mode, even said characters own, when the second player/CPU was him the game crashed.
However I did like the clone fights with each character: "What?! I'm fighting myself!!?" |
