I like the rock style they are taking that song.
I now accept this as the only way to listen to that song. In fact, we're playing that at a talent show for kicks and gigles with me on bass (trombone).

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by cover, seeing as in my mind that is the one true incarnation of the song, by which all other attempts shall be judged.

I don't quite see how they were lacking in recording skills, they even pioneered certain areas of recording. There's a whole wikipedia article on it and everything. I guess it's a taste thing on a certain level, and I did like their performances, both vocal and instrumental.

I love Across the Universe's Come Together though.

Carry on my Wayward Son by Yngwie Malmsteen. (Kansas)

Don't Stop Believing by Northern Kings. (Journey [a rather badass metal cover])

While My Guitar Gently Weeps by Jeff Healey. (George Harrison)

And one that was recently stumbled upon that is superb:
All Along the Watchtower by Jeff Healey. (Neil Young)

Although neither Healey's nor Young's version are anything to be scoffed at.

Voodoo Child (Slight Return) by Stevie Ray Vaughan is pretty good listening.
Original by Jimi Hendrix. But you all knew that, of course.

Can't take my eyes off of you covered by Muse (Frankie Valli)

The Killers have done it too, but all of the videos with them doing it had crappy audio.
